Way back in '91, I was involved in an organization dubbed, "Operation Desert Support". We held demonstrations @ the Fed Bldg out here in Westwood, Ca. in support of our troops and the war. We mixed it up with the likes of Ed Asner, Woody Harrelson(now THERE'S a piece of work ), and Ron Kovic. A GREAT time was had by all and it was "one of my favorite memories"(thanks Merle) !!!
After the stuff in the Gulf was over and the troops came home, we had the "Welcome Home Desert Storm Parade" on Hollywood Blvd. We had "fly-overs" by the Air Force, the Gulf vets marched by to tumultuous cheers. We all were "AMPED"!!!
THEN...
...a contingent of VIET vets marched by in their BDU's and the crowd went NUTS !!!
I did'nt see a dry eye from my vantage point !!!
After I dried my own, I kept thinking, "Why did it take this long?" _________________ "There is no greater love..." |
