What, I am supposed to know where the drunken South Vietnamese came from? They were either (1) catholic or (2) knew a catholic who had purchased liquor. And maybe they were screaming out the brand name they loved.
Look, I have to say that Kerry's Cambodian story sounds like it has been embellished. That said, today's LA Times says that Wasser and Zaladonis, two of his crewmates, support that they were upriver in the vicinity of Cambodia that day after a battle near Sa Dec. (Gardner disagrees.) |

Penj,
This is a credibility issue. If Kerry "embellished" his Cambodia story (and mroe and more the consensus is that he out and out lied), then what else has he "embellished"? These last couple of days have not been good for Kerry in that department. _________________ -Polaris

Maybe it was kerry who was drunk. That would explain all the bullet holes in his boat. Probably someone yelled , "There's VC" only referring to their dog "VC" and kerry misunderstood and shot up the boat then embellished the story to make it the fault of Cambodians, Laotians, Swiss Army and others. _________________
kerry returned to the United States on July 22, 1971, held a press conference publicly calling on President Nixon... for the surrender of the United States to North Vietnam. |

The US Navy had boats guarding the border.Being in the vicinity of Cambodia is not being in Cambodia . He claimed his whole outlook of not trusting the goverment came from illegally being ordered in Cambodia a country " in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real.”
But did the south Vietnamese enter Cambodia in 1968 ? If not they couldn't have been drunk there. |

According to the Naval records read by the LA Times, the battle itself was 40-50 miles away from Cambodia around 7am. There then was 12 hours when the boat was north of Sa Dec. |

I got to go home to my wife. (Maybe Ted will return soon.)
I haven't read the book yet, but I imagine a lot is going to come out in the coming weeks from both sides. |

[quote="Paul Woll"]... Kerry said in 1986: "When I signed up for the swift boats, they had very little to do with the war. They were engaged in coastal patrolling, and that's what I thought I was going to be doing."
Kerry was about to be drafted, his request for deferrment had been denied. How does one go about volunteering for a specific duty? Did all of you get to choose your position? _________________ Tammy Myers |

I just wonder what it takes....
I mean, I've been a long time GOP supporter and generally vote Repub at both the national and local level - but will vote Dem if it's the right person.
Just put the shoe on the other foot - if there was even a fraction of this much evidence in a dispute involving George Bush, I would never, ever consider voting for him.
I find it absolutly fascinating (and disturbing) that so far, you haven't let facts get in the way of your perceptions. So...what exactly will it take? At what point does the mountain of evidence make one bit of difference?
I was intrigued when Bill Clinton first came on the political scene...so who was this guy anyway? When the first bimbo eruption occured - it was rather easy to think "could just be a disgruntled person, ya never know..."
When the second one occured (I don't even remember their names...it became one long, depressing parade of disgusting behavior that tarnished the office of the president) that was it. And Hillary "standing by her man..."? It was immediatley apparent what the story was - and 'ole Bill just tried to talk it all away. Nope, he did it - guilty as charged by the "other side."
Kerry seems to just be another in a long list of weak, ineffective, or characterless (can't think of a better synonym) Democratic candidates/Presidents. Kerry, Clinton, Carter, Johnson.... sad.
My husband was a cop, and let me tell you I would have a hard time being selected to sit on a jury. If you're in court, in front of a judge, it almost doesn't matter what you're accused of - it you didn't do that particular crime, you probably did another. Cops get called back again and again to the same places, arresting the same people.
Point of the story? You can get a pass on bad behavior once - but not twice. Don't expect me to buy your story a second time. Most people are basically straight up - except those that lie, cheat, steal or commit crimes. They do it over and over again. They're guilty. Don't waste your breath trying to explain to me how the dog ate your homework a second and third time. You're lying. And to try it a third, fourth, fifth time? Now I'm stupid if I believe you.
Shame on us if we think somehow one more comment or piece of "evidence" will somehow convince you. I've come to the conclusion you're just baiting folks to see what happens.

Right on, MJB!
I wonder what it would take, too and you are so right - if the shoe were on the other foot.....

What was it that the senior senator from Massachusetts said on the florr of Congress? "Lie after lie after lie after lie..."
Perhaps Kerry's just following orders. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

[quote="ted"]I've been reading all this stuff. I have read everything on the SwiftVets site, seen the John O'Neill / Kerry debate on Cavett, read the PDF docs that the DoD released on Kerry and I just don't get it. /quote]
Ted - I've been reading this thread. But the most interesting thing you said was at the beginning:
"I've read everything on the SwiftVets site, seen the debate, etc" and you conclude that you "just don't get it." Well, I'm happy to help you out with this, because I do "get it" -- that sort of makes me one of thousands of teachers for you, huh? I'll give you a hint -- a place to begin: truth and honor and courage and love of country. At least that's a start. Perhaps you need to take a break from this site and get out on the internet and study these concepts in depth so you will be able to understand what we are talking about. Just a suggestion. |
