If you would like to talk about a woman who was unfit to be a first lady, look at Mary Todd Lincoln. |

Thanks, Montana. I had planned to research that info, to see if another First Lady was non American born. Thought it had to be only one or two, if any. |

academicanarchist, blackfrancis, etc....
Why would his wife be a issue???
If you must lie, swear or personally attack to make your arguement it is because your arguement does not stand on its own merrits.
If you find difficulty understanding a voteing machine, or need some one to tell you how to vote, please don't . |
just wondering if being called evil and /or bloody ignorant is a personal attack.
(I have no problems with voting machines that have a paper trail, and work properly, unlinke the ones in California.) |

...representing the United States in front of the rest of the world is not normally a function the first lady has to contend with as much as, say, the Secretary of State...if you accept that, then it would seem difficult to avoid the fact that Henry Kissingers accent was definitely not from South Boston...

This is about a possible President's wife - not YOU. I am fully aware of all the immigrants in the US, but have no desire to have a first generation one as a first lady! ANd neithe does anyone else I know. And about the accent - that's right, she is representing us to the rest of the world, and I don't care if she is European or African, she wasn't born here and that is the fact. It matters! Who cares about a Governor from CA? Not apples and apples, pals. You people that are on this site with the wrong agenda NEED TO GET OFF NOW! You will NOT be successful in your blatant attempts to sway our opinion about Kerry!!! |
I see discussion is not actually welcome here. |

I don't think you read the posts in this thread very carefully. I, for one, was saying that a foreign-born first lady is not an issue. What is your highest degree in history? |

I have no issue with that. Your handle is what led to the question. It can be interpreted several ways. One is that you have an interest in history. The other is that you are an actual student studying history.
Wilson suffered a stroke after touring the country trying to sell the League of Nations. The degree to which Mrs. Wilson ran the whitehouse has been debated. The charge was made at the time, for example, by Wilson's detractors. I raised Mary Todd Lincoln as an example of a poor first lady because of her spendthrift ways, and the problems she caused her husband while in office. At a political level, since it would be fair to guess that you are a Republican, Hillary Clinton's activities might become a political issue in the same way that Mrs. Wilson's activities did. Recall that the suffragettes had been active only a few years before, and women had just obtained the vote. |

Interesting topics. I would like to learn more about the primary sources you have. Your earlier comments about the sale of items to Mrs. Lincoln suggests access to family papers. |

Fair enough. However, if you have some unique insights into Mrs. Wilson, you might consider getting your info published. |

Just as well it wasn't Jeb Bush who ran, then. : |

I worry more about her non-American husband. We don't need to be part of the EU. Socialism isn't working for them -- why should we think it can work for us? He'll sell out America quicker than Saddam did Iraq. He's easier to payoff than the UN, the French, and the Russians. He's a professional gigalo -- so the $10 billion Saddam used to pay them off is "Chump Change" to him. _________________ Top 10 Weasels.com is where Kerry is Weasel #1 |
