According to this news article, Kerry has decided to take on the Swiftvets. "More than 30 years ago I learned an important lesson. When you're under attack the best thing to do is turn your boat into the attack. That's what I intend to do today."

Personally, I think this is too funny. First of all, by taking on the Swiftvets, he forces the media to cover the story. Secondly, beaching your boat in the face of enemy fire was the stupidest thing you could do and was against orders. Even his own crewmates admit that when he beached the boat they could not depress the 50s far enough to fire at the enemy. IOW, the most powerful weapons the boat had were useless in that situation.

35 years later Kerry still doesn't have a clue.

Trouble is Kerry is a true believer in himself --- he does not see himself objectively -- so he does not understand how his plan to be a decorated war hero plays out with real people --- A true hero does not set out to become a hero or request his own awards.

This is Kerry's problem. He had lofty goals but he didn't have what it takes and the world would not cooperate and provide the script he felt he needed in order to become the next JFK, so he made it up. It is really pretty sad.
