More than 3 weeks after the DRUDGE REPORT began shooting up flares warning of an impending campaign battle surrounding former Vietnam veterans who would not support John Kerry for president -- the media empire strikes back!
In a series of world exclusives begging in late July, this space outlined and detailed the coming book UNFIT FOR COMMAND -- a book which now sits at the top of the charts -- and the top of Friday's NY TIMES.
TIMES editor Bill Keller has reserved the lead of Page One for "the story of how swift boat veterans with a grievance were found by Republicans looking to tarnish Kerry's image," newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.
"A modern day tale of the creation of a political attack machine," declares TIMES reporter Jim Ruttenburg.
The TIMES plans to piggyback on comments made by John Kerry on Thursday against allegations that he exaggerated his combat record in Vietnam.
Kerry accused President Bush of using a Republican front group "to do his dirty work."
"Some of the veterans have recanted their stories and made charges that military records prove untrue," the TIMES explains in its 3,500-world splash, which has been previewed by DRUDGE.
Impacting late Thursday.

Oh, the NYT is *so* clueless.
You'd think they don't follow the CURRENT news. All of that stuff the NYT reporter was spouting was *stale* and debunked days ago.
But, hey. When someone blithely skipping down the highway to hell, the best thing to do is stand out of their way and watch the fun.....

I think it's become evident that the MSM and the Kerry campaign have all assumed that the other guy was taking care of this minor annoyance. Hence, no sense of urgency, no boning up on the issues involved, no researching, no knowledge, just minor variations on a theme of "They didn't serve on his boat".
Tomorrow we get introduced to backup Plan B from the Grey Lady.
Will it be substantive scholarship (I doubt it...it would take at least a month before the liberal scribes could even begin to comprehend the alien culture) or something one would find on the floor of the Port Authority men's room at 3 AM?
My guess is the latter. |

I notice that all the media talking heads and self appointed experts (sorry, I realize that's redundant) don't bother trying to refute the POINTS that are being made by the Swift Boat Vets.
Gosh, I wonder why?

Let them smear and complain all they want. It shows how desparate they have become.
I just watched John O'Neill on Hannity and Colmes where he was asked if Bush asked him to pull the ad would they? His answer was "forget it! It isn't about politics, it's a deep seated conviction that Kerry isn't fit to command.

Everyone,
The Drudge report about TIME should suprise no one. This was a planned multipronged media attack blitzed probably planned by the DNC. It has backfired miserably. Let the Time magazine come out. After what the MSM is saying tonight, it will look rediculous. Remember that magazines typically take a week or so to prepare.....although I wouldn't be suprised to learn of some last minute editing
