My first post, hope I'm doing it correctly --
A couple of hours ago, I heard an ABC at-the-hour news blurb which I understood to quote Thurlow as saying Kerry was a great officer and everybody would have been proud to serve under him. Anybody hear that? Am I mistaken? _________________ http://home.earthlink.net/~amstanbury/ |

It is my understanding that Thurlow never served under Kerry, they were officers equal to each other.
If you go to the home page, click on the boat icone in the upper left above, there is a press release Thurlow released just today concerning reporting on him, as well as a couple others on the release. _________________ Clark County Conservative |

It was probably Hurley that made that kind of claim.
Thurlow has said (in sworn affidavit, in fact) something completely to the contrary.
I think that it was Thurlow (?) who told Kerry back in Vietnam to stay away from him when operating or he would show Kerry a real Purple Heart. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

I believe that was Peck that made the implied threat after Kerry pursued his first PH and made a joke of himself. _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |

Actually Lew,
Thurlow was senior to Kerry. Kerry, via Brinkley, has claimed to be CTE on both 28 Feb 69 and 13 Mar 69 which is virtually impossible as on both occasions there were senior OinC's present. Thurlow on 13 Mar 69 for example. Senior both in Grade, time in Grade, and combat experience.
Tom
Sorry, CTE means Commander Task Element. _________________ On Sale! Order in lots of 100 now at velero@rcn.com Free for the cost of shipping All profits (if any, especially now) go to Swiftvets. The author of "Sink Kerry Swiftly" ---ASPB |

Nope, that was Tedd Peck. (Just trying to keep the story straight.) He said that to Kerry before they left Cam Ranh Bay for An Thoi on 6 Dec 69. (Unfit For Command pg 41, para 1, last sentence) _________________ antimedia

Does anyone know why Thurlows BSM Citation published in the Washington Post does not say 'Official Record Copy' on it but Kerry's does? Does it matter? Thanks. |

Best Guess? Becuase the WaPo got the citation via a FOIA request while Kerry got the one that was issued to him by the Navy. There may be more to it and it may make a difference. Anyone else? _________________ -Polaris
