Because back when they made their original statements, they were relying on Kerry's original statements, and what was in Brinkley's book. After they found out the truth, they changed their opinions.

McCain wrote an article against Kerry back after he was released from a North Vietnam POW camp. Today, they are friends and he has given Kerry some strong ammunition against SVBT.
Does the media question his change? _________________ Clark County Conservative |

Has anyone noticed how ill prepared and ill informed Alan Colmes is? I recall him saying Kerry had two tours of duty in Vietnam when Kerry only had one. Today he was clueless as to why Hoffman and Lonsdale changed their opinion of John Kerry. This reminds me of Lanny Davis saying last week that John O'Neill never served in Vietnam. |

Colmes is just along for the ride. Hannity is the backbone for that show. Alan is always reaching and grasping for something. Just think if you were in his shoes and had to come up with some kind of debate or issue for the left. That is his job...lol... Just think if you had to defend the left. It would be a nightmare. I feel sorry for him because he doesnt stand a chance with Hannity and also his hair is a damn mess...LOL

The 5 weeks the Gridley spent patroling off Nam is counted by kerry as a "tour" so for credit for Two tours he spent a total of 4 months on the ground. 17 weeks total |

Colmes said Kerry spent 11 months or two tours in Vietnam. I've not heard anyone but Colmes say that. I'm aware that Kerry thinks 5 weeks on the Gridley is also a "tour" from what I read in "Unfit for Command" not many people agree with him. |

But McCain himself complained about Kerry-led anti-war protests when he was released from the infamous "Hanoi Hilton" 31 years ago.
In piece he wrote for the May 14, 1973, issue of U.S. News & World Report, the POW-turned-senator charged that testimony by Kerry and others before J. William Fulbright's Senate Foreign Relations Committee was "the most effective propaganda [my North Vietnamese captors] had to use against us."
"They used Senator Fulbright a great deal," McCain wrote - a reference to Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony that U.S. soldiers were committing war crimes in Vietnam as a matter of course.
He said Kerry political ally Sen. Ted Kennedy was "quoted again and again" by his jailers at the Hanoi Hilton.
"Clark Clifford was another [North Vietnamese] favorite," McCain told U.S. News, "right after he had been Secretary of Defense under President Johnson." _________________ .

You might want to do what I did. So that Hannity and others could be armed to show the Kerry lapdogs, and the audience the truth ,I emailed these shows, and told them to go to C-SPAN, and Winter Soldier.
Here's the email addys
. Maybe you can come up with others.

Looks like I have to say this again (in another thread).
There is no question most Navy blue-water tours don't begin to compare to the dangers, living conditions, etc. of the brown-water tours. However, should SVFT or any of its spokespeople reflect that one didn't have a Vietnam tour unless one was on the ground, in a river/canal, etc., we will turn off tens of thousands who made multiple 6-11 month tours on Yankee Station operating aircraft around the clock (tell me flight deck guys aren't doing dangerous work), on North/South SAR, on MarketTime, etc.
You won't turn me off and I have no illusion about comparing YankeeStation to Swift OPS, Marines at Khe Sahn, etc. However, you also won't tell me that my being on Maddox 8/64, on Gridley as PIRAZ for the Saigon evacuation and having both a Market Time and NGFS tour in between doesn't count.
Focus on things like going around the chain of command for an award, how it would be possible for 5 boats and their crews to be unhit by gunfire (for 5000M and several hours), how a single, wounded VC became a "superior enemy force", how citations evolve over the years, how a bruised arm gushes blood while Kerry pulls Rassmann up, etc.
To me this is a character issue and arguing about the number of "tours" just wastes time and money at the risk of irritating many. _________________ Retired USN Capt.; Market Time vicinity ChuLai 6/67-2/68; Maddox 8/64 Tonkin Gulf; NGFS I Corps 6-12/65; Saigon evac. 4/75. |
