One of Hugh Hewitt's readers has disclosed that Kerry stated in a book, "A Call To Service", that he had served two! tours of duty on Swift boats. _________________ antimedia

Actually, Kerry is claiming that he served "two tours in Vietnam," counting his abbreviated tour on the USS Gridley as "a tour in Vietnem."
We've had a few discussions about it on this board and while it's understood that WESTPACs were anything but easy money - it's pretty chicken$nit to claim "two tours in Vietnam."
The public immediately envisions the grunt, mucking through swamps and slashing through jungles and that's exactly what Kerry was hoping for when he phrased it that way.
He degrades the service of the sailors who did their three-year tours and sweated their butts off in support of operations in Vietnam when he claims his month or so in support of the 7th Fleet as a "tour in Vietnam." He makes it something that it wasn't, implying that the sailors' jobs weren't important enough to claim in his resume. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

No, Kerry claimed two tours on Swift boats. Here's the quote:
Quote: | "As a Vietnam veteran who may have boarded Kerry's swift boat or provided air coverage for Kerry, I am aware of some of his shortcoming (a mild description). For instance, in 2003, Kerry published his book, A Call to Service. See page xii:
"'And John [McCain] knew that I had been a Navy officer, commanding a 'swift boat' --a small, fast patrol boat used for counter-insurgency missions-- in the Mekong Delta for two tours of duty.'" |
I am aware that he has claimed two tours of duty in Nam, but this is clearly two tours on Swift boats, not one on the Gridley and one on Swift boats. _________________ antimedia

I surely had not seen this!
He has the same disease all fake vets have...only he's a real one.
I'd love to get a peek at his journal. What do you bet he won the Medal of Honor in there somewhere? _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |

I'll bet than Hanoi John is counting his time at CosDiv13 (Cat Lo) as one tour and his time at CosDiv11 (An Thoi) as a separate tour. Ya gotta remember, this creep is a spinmaster and he wants to get the most political mileage out of this. |

I'm certain that's what John had in mind. Unfortunately for him he put it in writing. And he got called on it. I'll give him one tour, even though it was a short one. But there ain't no way he's getting two. Not when my cousin Donald came home in a body bag. _________________ antimedia
