Does anyone know what's going on at Amazon and Barnes and Noble?
Is the book really sold out at both of these booksellers?
And what happened to all the reviews on Amazon.com? All the reviews have gone and they're starting over! The reviews were strong and pretty articulate. The bad reviews were blatantly hateful and clearly didn't read the book.
This is the SECOND time Amazon.com started over with all the reviews.
This is very, very curious indeed. _________________ Talking point #1: Sign 180

Sold out because they are only ordering a couple books at a time maybe?
I've been pressing B&N for quite awhile now, calling every day. Today they called and said it was in and to go upstairs and to the back desk. When I went in the store, I expected to see a rack with the book, as they said the "shipment was in." However, nothing but tables of all the new political books (most bashing Bush -- most I'd never heard of before) .. so I went upstairs and to the desk at the back of the store -- and when they handed me my book, I asked why isn't this on display downstairs? The clerk said they didn't have enough to put out. (Mind you, this is prime real estate, smack in downtown --big store).
I said, but you said the shipment was in? Oh, we only have six (now with mine taken, that leaves 5). 6?!! everyone's looking for this book, I said! Well, the clerk said, "WE DON'T EXPECT THIS BOOK TO SELL." Okay, now, someone up the line somewhere made this decision, obviously. (The clerk, as an explanation, told me that they had expected the 911 Commission book to sell, and that's why they had tons of copies on display.)
I asked if ordering 6 books was the way they handled all their new releases, and the guy said, no, not all, just some of them -- the ones they determine that people won't want. (keep in mind, this is a clerk, not mgmt saying this). All I could do was fume. Perhaps the book doesn't have any marketing campaign? Maybe something special needs to be arranged by a publisher to get a book to be put out on a rack? Something about the distribution contract I don't know about? Those of you out there with book seller's know-how, is there a standard for handling the sale of new books? Or is it done, per store, by one person's fancy?
ANYWAY - I got my revenge because I took the book out of the bag and opened it up so the cover was displayed and walked slowly and deliberately on my way out of the store -- flipping thru it and reading it in a position I've never read in before: holding it up in front of me like a sign, with the cover open so people could see it whether they wanted to or not. People did notice. I wanted them to know someone had bought it in case they had been looking for it! I lurked around the main display the longest -- flashing the book !!
Seriously, I don't know what can be done to get that book put out on the racks, I honestly don't!! |

Just got the e-mail that my copy of "Unfit For Command" has shipped from Amazon.com...
Haven't been this excited to get mail since Arnie's California car tax refund!

I just went to my local Barnes & Noble and asked for the book. There were 2 people working the desk and they were very nice. The first one said that there was so much demand for the book that the publisher was having to do reprint after reprint, and the second one chimed in that their store had not even received a single shipment of it yet. I believed them because I'm in a small city in Iowa...probably not the first place the company would ship a hot title to.
I checked a Waldenbooks in the local mall a couple of days ago and could only find one copy there. |

I was able to get 2 copies through Amazon.com without any delay. Barnes and Noble is much slower and seems to falter when it comes to marketing Unfit for Command which became #3 today on the NY Times Best Seller listing - the NY Times had no choice but to list the book even though the newspaper has done everything to critize the book and its authors. Maybe this will become a turning point for the Times to act in a fair and balanced way.

After sending two e-mails stating I would do no further business with Amazon and that I did not believe their statements about not playing politics with this book, I received an e-mail saying my copy had shipped today. This was after I ordered it in July and the ship date went from the end of August to the end of September before I sent the e-mails. Their second e-mail to me was very apologetic...I'll give them that. I still may not buy anything from them. I also ordered it from Human Events on-line, so I'll have one to give to my former Special Forces brother, who supports all you are doing. |

I got my copy yesterday at Borders in South Bend, IN (Mishawaka, actually, it's a suburb). The very polite older lady who sold it to me said it was not on display because they keep selling out, and my reserved copy was one of a few left from their second order. She said demand is incredible. _________________ --Mona-- |

I am really upset. I live on Long Island...sometimes I think I am the only person here who sees "the Monster" in the room...meaning John Kerry. As it is, to buy Sean Hannity's book you have to practically climb under the table to find a hidden copy of it under the overstock of Hillary's babble.
Well I tried both Amazon and Barnes and Noble on line but they both said there would be an indefinite wait.
So I went to EVERY book store on the North Shore today and NONE of them had "Unfit for Command"! The girl in Border's Books in Syosset told me that they WILL NOT carry that book!
This can't be legal can it?
I was trying to find on this site a place to order it but I couldn't find it.
This is so wrong...I mean the NY Times is one thing- all they ever print is liberal lible...but BANNING BOOKS???
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I still don't know how I am going to get the book! Any suggestions???
Thanks,

Red,
Did you try Book Revue in Huntington on New York Avenue? I lived in that area for years, and I know that Sean Hannity does book signings in the store. The phone number is 631-271-1442. Good luck. |

I checked a Waldenbooks in the local mall a couple of days ago and could only find one copy there. | I experienced a similar situation at the B&N in Royal Oak, MI.
I had to "order" it because the clerk said it was a "limited quantity" first printing(or to some effect). B&N called 2 days later and I immediately went and picked it up.
I noticed that unlike the multiple BASH BUSH books, or in the case of Bill and Hillary's books, my copy of "Unfit for Command" did not have the 30% off sticker on it. I gleefully paid full price.
According to Drudge, 500,000 copies are now "in print". Whether that's actual sold copies or a combination of orders and copies was not clarified.
But, the book is very interesting. _________________ A willing tool of the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" since 1981. |
