But now he has Kerry diving into the water to save Rassmann. Rolling Eyes

Quote:
Kerry also picked up support from Wayne Langhofer, who told the Washington Post he was manning a machine-gun in a boat behind Kerry's and saw firing from both banks of a river as Kerry dived in to rescue Special Forces soldier James Rassmann, the basis for Kerry's Bronze Star.

And, does he explain all that fire coming from both banks and no damage reports on the boats?

Maybe Kerry's splash from diving in deflected the hail of bullets? Rolling Eyes

Like every other "war story", just keeps getting better and better with each retelling.

That can't be accurate. There can't be another version of the story, can there?

I suspect the Washington Post may end up as the article of record on this event.

Not a bad thing. I wish they had pressed the "where are the bullet holes form 5000 meters and hour 1/2 of small arms fire", but still...

Just how wide was this river? Obviously the enemy had very bad aim.

75 yards?

With any decent Assault Rifle (and the VC used AK-47s which are quite good) a blind man can hit a man sized target at 75 yards much less something the size of a swift-boat. Had their been enemy fire, the swift boats should have looked like swiss cheese and the damage reports should have so indicated.

Yep! 75 yards. Logic and experience doesn't apply when talking about Kerry's after action reports.

This won't help Kerry . . . the story is too different from all others told so far.
