O'Neill Dares Kerry: 'Sue Me'
Swiftboat Veterans for the Truth spokesman John O'Neill dared Sen. John Kerry on Sunday to sue him for libel if, as Kerry's presidential campaign maintains, key claims in O'Neill's book "Unfit for Command" are not true.
"I invite him to sue me for libel," O'Neill, who co-authored the overnight bestseller with Jerome Corsi, told WABC Radio's Monica Crowley.
"If he was actually in Cambodia on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day he should sue me. If, in fact, those other five [Swift]boats, on March the 13, [1969], if they all fled like he did, instead of staying like he knows they did, he should sue me."
O'Neill continued, "If he didn't wound himself with a grenade, causing sort of a rice-fanny wound, and then reported it to the Navy as a water mine - if he didn't do that on March 13th he should sue me."
O'Neill issued the challenge after noting that Kerry's campaign has gone to extraordinary lengths to suppress the information in "Unfit for Command."
"On our first [Swiftvet] ad, he had two huge law firms send letters to every [TV] station, threatening to sue the stations themselves" if they ran the ad, the former Swiftboat commander told Crowley.
"The next thing he did was challenge the book's publisher, Regnery, indicating he would sue them if they continued printing the book," he added.
The bestselling author said that while Regnery declined to stop printing "Unfit," it offered to republish Kerry's 1971 book "The New Soldier," which chronicles the top Democrat's anti-war protests with a group bankrolled by Jane Fonda.
Kerry has declined to have "New Soldier" republished over the years and reportedly bought up most of the available copies in 1972, after his opponent in a congressional race used it to paint him as anti-American. |

Ouch for Kerry. Though he will probably not comment, this could force Kerry to play his hand. But the media will make this stance UNHEARD from O'Neil. |

GEEZ - I wish I could have heard that! Reading it is great, but would like to have heard O'Neill actually saying it. YES. |

I hope the MSM will have stories on Mr. O'Neill's quotes.
They sure covered Kerry's "Bring It On", meanwhile Kerry hid behind everyone. Mr. O'Neill has presented a real challenge - for Kerry to refute those three things in the book! |

We all know Kerry would not dare because,in court he would be taken apart piece by piece. And the world would get a very clear picture of the man he is. _________________ Hold all media accountable,If you see or hear an untruth dont let it slide EMAIL them.let them know .When they figure out they are fooling noone and it goes to their credibility and enough people let them know.Maybe the slant wont be at such an angle. |

It's quite unlikely that Kerry will sue John O'Neill. Once the discovery process opens up, Kerry's records - all of them - are fair game.
John O'Neill's stance here is terrific. He's got the truth on his side and Kerry et al know it. |

Yeah, having O'neill come out with that statement, shows that he's ready to bring everything to the surface..."Bring it on, O'neill"
Here's the link BTW...

Right Raven I hadn't thought of that...I'm not a Lawyer I think that, with all the letters Kerry Kamp sent to the Main Media about sueing them if they run the Swift ads, O'Neill figured it's time to use the "sue me" approach.. That would be the court case of the decade... |

Anyone with half-a-brain knows that there are laws against libel; we see or read about a celebrity suing some author all the time. It's rediculous for Kerry to keep asking Bush to stop the ads. |

Believe me, hon, if there were no recognition on the part of Kerry's lawyers regarding discovery, Kerry's posse would have sued John O'Neill. And O'Neill knows it. John O'Neill is John Kerry's worst nightmare. This story is all over the place and the only one who can deliver the answers is John Kerry. But of course, he cannot. To do so would reveal him to be the liar and opportunist who entered his political career on the backs of Vietnam servicemen whom he decried for the sole reason of entering politics. |

I believe that is the most polite way I've ever seen someone say "Go F yourself". _________________ "I am Johnny Kerry and I approved this message before I didn't approve this message and after I decided it was just another smear" |

Scarbourough was leaning to the left, but ya gotta giveMSNBC a little credit for keeping the debate alive...That helped the debate get out there...Now I hear the Main Media is starting to pick up the speed somewhat...Shift to fourth gear.. |
