Kerry's response to the first ad demonstrates he is unfit to be president. We have a long history of calling our presidents names and making outrageous charges against them dating from the presidency of George Washington. Lincoln and Washington might not have been called a "left wing extremist" or a "right wing extremist" but they were called names with comparable meanings.
Presidents through George W. Bush have accepted the name calling and what they considered false charges because they knew that process was an essential part of our democracy.
The ad might feature a U.S. history professor if possible mentioning the names other presidents were called and explaining the importance of Americans being able to criticize their politicians.
Both sides disagree about what happened 35 years ago and some people may wonder how important it is as an issue. There is no question that Kerry's people have tried to censor the Swift Boat Vets. Kerry's inability to deal with criticizm without trying to use police state methods raises serious doubts about his ability to handle the presidency. A president who comes unglued when he's criticized might do things that would make dwarf WAtergate. _________________ "That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoe making and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poor house."
