Good Morning Swifties:
I've just finished reading a piece on National Review Online. The writer's thesis is that SBVT is just playing into Kerry's perennial campaign strategy, one that has won him elections in my state for decades. To wit, NR argues that Kerry will turn the SBVT's criticism into "oh poor me, my opponent is attacking ME, a veteran", which was his modus operandi in all of his senatorial debates, especially against Weld.
Of course, this time it will be more difficult to wave the bloody shirt-- "look at me I'm a war hero--"
One of the benefits of the ads, particularly the second, is that I doubt the veteran community is going to come to his defense this time, particularly given his smears of some of his fellow officers in Tour of Duty.
But of course I may be wrong.
Will he be able to stand and yell at Bush in the debates that "I'm know more about how to fight the war on terrorism because I served on the front lines in Vietnam and you didn't"?
