Bob Dole just said that Kerry said he (Kerry) has a contract with Doug Brinkley that is why he can't release all his records!! Just heard this on the radio!!
I wonder if that's his (Kerry's) story and he's sticking to it, LOL

I don't buy it. Even if it were true, Brinkly could easly waive that for Kerry if Kerry asked him to.
It sounds like a BS excuse to me.

| That contract is probably designed to protect Kerry .Brinkley can't release anything unless Kerry okays it. |

The parties to a contract can mutually agree to waive any of the conditions.
This is a pretty lame excuse, as are the rest of Kerry's excuses.

Hey I have to agree with all of you, I just find it rather funny that this is the excuse now coming out.
We'll see how long before the boat sinks on that excuse
Beside, hasn't the Kerry Camp been saying all along that Kerry has released ALL his records!!! |

Absolutely  .
A part of me can't help but think that there are people from the inside trying to ruin Kerry's run for the Oval Office.
Here is a guy who walked right into an ambush over his Vietnam record after having just made it the focal point of his message at the Democratic Convention.
And he has been flailing away ever since.
His public comments denouncing the SVBT last week forced the major media to examine this controversy. And none of his tactics have done anything to seriously refute the allegations being made against him. Now he's trying to talk about other issues.  Who is his cheif advisor? Hillary Clinton? 
If I didn't know any better, it's almost as though some people are manipulating an apparent buffoon into a presidential run that will make the history books for it's comedy and futility.  |

The Clinton camp are setting things up for 2008. Kerry's just a useful idiot.
I feel dirty being on the same side of an issue as the Clintons, despite having totally honorable motivations.

Jungle_Rat, you beat me to the punch! I was thinking the same thing.
There have been various rumors floating around the internet regarding activities by the Clintons that would position Hillary for her run in 2008. Which would (obviously) mean undercutting Kerry.
At this point, Hillary is to the right of Kerry, so I guess we'll have to go with her for the time being

While I would also like to see all of the records, I fear that it would be a double edged sword.
Don't forget that Kerry was a man on a mission.
Once in the theater, he wanted to document his service for future use.
I haven't received my copy of UFC yet, but I believe he brought along an 8mm movie camera and a typewriter with him (please correct me if I'm wrong).
In the 60's, these weren't small, easily manageable or portable items.
Yet he's lugging them around. Documenting his service for posterity.
He actively campaigned and applied (and reapplied after being turned down) for his own medals. Once again, building his after-war resume by design.
Rumor has it he wrote most of the after-action reports himself. Once again, creating and dictating his own bio and history.
I'm sure at the time, his fellow brothers were more than happy to let Kerry do the boring, tedious paperwork. They probably had more pressing issues on their minds.
Now these records stand as the "official" record. |

| But that's where Kerry might be in some trouble - if the records ultimately show that he was the author of his own war history, which is one of the chief allegations being made against him by the SBVT. |

You see, Your Honor, I have a binding contract with my accountant, which is why I can't file a 1040 with the IRS...

I agree, but I think the "people on the inside trying to ruin Kerry's run" consist of just one person - John Kerry.
I sincerely believe that he's letting his ego overrule his advisors. And as far as I'm concerned, that's GREAT NEWS!
