This latest column of Hackworth's is the kind of stuff I'm talking about when I say that I think he runs about 50% correct:

There just isn't anywhere else that soldiers can complain to when their battalion commander is a nut job...at least not anywhere else that will get traction.

When he goes against the Swift Boat Vets for Truth, well then I obviously disagree with him. A lot of extraneous issues came up on this thread, but Hack may yet come around on this.

Hack's article is productive if the BC is turned around... No reason for not armoring the trucks... Unfortunately, the article gives more ammo to those who want the Iraq op to fail.

That is all quite disappointing. I didn't realize this about Hackworth. It's very sad that the most decorated U.S. veteran is so politically misled. is bitterness over not making General makes it more clear to me now. I always wondered how in the world he didn't make General with all those medals and ribbons. Now I know. Maybe he'll have an awakening and join the truth that most military personnel and vets understand.

I lost any hope for Hackworth during the 1991 Gulf War.

I remember he was on CNN doing a live shot from Saudi He was predicting a disaster, tanks that would never run, untrained soldiers who couldn’t fight etc.

I haven’t taken him seriously since then.
