I know some of you are glad that the Swift Boat Vets are coming out against Kerry, even if only to hurt John Kerry's presidential bid, and if the Vets serve your purpose, then good; however, it's not about that at all.
There is no deeper wound in American history than that of a country who forced our men to go to a faraway place, to a place none of them wanted to go, forced them into a battle none of them wanted to fight, forcing them into a situation of kill or be killed, and only to return home to an ungrateful nation who spat on them, called them names, and generally mistreated them.
There is no greater blight on American history, no greater shame than that.
The embodiment of that anti-Vet crowd is Jane Fonda and John Kerry.
Our Vietnam Vets have earned every right in the world to speak out. They deserve an apology, and Kerry should deliver that apology. |
