| I believe Senator Kerry should resign his Senate seat to concentrate on his campaign for president! Afterall, doesnt his constituency in Mass. deserve the full attention/representation from their elected officials? His absence record since 911 is cause enough - do we not deserve full representation from our Senate Intelligence Commitee members? Or is Kerry par for the course; turning his back on us yet again. Time to remind Kerry he is NOT a president - He IS a Senator........ |

Yeah, but if he loses (I don't assume when, because God only knows what can happen between now and 02 Nov) he'll still have a cushy job to go back to in DC. You think he's gonna risk giving that up for a piddly little thing like ethics?

IMO, it's too late to get him to resign. The time for that was six months ago, but the people of MA didn't seem too upset that he was missing most of the votes and not doing his job.
I'll be moving this to the geedunk in a bit - the off-topic discussions.

Let's see if I can type this fast enough befor e this post goes to Gedunk. 
I think that Mass and the US is better off with his absence.
Right now, the law states that if Kerry resigns, Gov. Romney (Republican)
can appoint his replacement. The legislature has stated if Kerry resigns, then they would pass
a bill calling for a special election.
Typical in this state. If you don't like the law, change it.  |

Funny how gov. Romney was calling for his resignation 
People run for president all the time with out giving up their elected position. cough * Bush * cough.
Living in Mass, the only out cry I have really heard is from Romney. He has made it back to vote in some instances where a liberal vote was needed (thats why the Repubs call him the 1st most liberal senator, because in the last year (when National Review started recording it) he only showed up when his party told him to)

| kerry should have his seat resigned for him by the President-Pro-Tempre. He's not there and he's missed over 88% of his votes the past year. By Senate rules, you HAVE to be present for EACH floor vote and he has missed nearly nine times more than te's been there for. How in the world he gets away with all this crap when it's in Senate rules I don't get. Why doesn't someone in authority grow a set and just flat tell him that he's not above the law and from now on if he isn't there for each vote, he won't be a Senate the next day. Period. |
