I have just been listening to a Vietnam Vet who related his story of how when he was coming home from VN even on the plane people were telling him how they were disgusted with him and then when he left the plane he was set upon by 4 long haired youths in the bathroom he went on to say how on arriving home he spent 4 months drunk. I wish the rest of America could have heard the emotion in the mans voice it just brought tears to my eyes. He said that while he was sitting watching TV he had to listen to Kerry spouting his anti war speech. Nothing can take back what happened to veterans on there return from VN and if Kerry thinks an apology on Sunday news shows is going to help him he must be insane.

What I am lost at (well not the only darn thing) is why so many WWII Vets and Korean War vets are so against Bush and so much for Kerry. I just don't get it.

I have a friend who always has been reclusive and seemed to be sad or grim all the time. Recently, during a visit, he broke down and sobbed openly, cursing the way he was treated when he returned from two tours and blaming John and Jane. In shock, I told him my story, and my first post to this forum: "Let me tell you what really haunts me about Kerry and his friends. I was in the service a little before your time and was in college when they were marching in the street. I deeply regret that I was "too busy" to help returning veterans by demonstrating against the demonstrators. I saw them from classroom windows and they remain clear in my memory today, adding to my guilt. Kerry and his friends loudly voiced their stories then and want to silence you now. Don't let them do it again. And you finally have my support." Since that time, he's been happier, more conversant and very defiant.

This little piece of history has enormously impacted the effete MSM and how we get the news. It has given us a way to thoroughly vet any subject without effete MSM analysis or spin. It has given us a new way to evaluate those who would lead us or influence how we think. Finally, I too, believe it will expose the lies and exhonorate Vietnam veterans and bring us back to the patriotic state we once were.

ET's Homecoming

I am a Vietnam "Era" Veteran. I will admit that I was never spit at, upon my return to America in 1971. But I did make the mistake, on the day I was discharged, of wearing my Dress Navy Blue uniform while hitchhiking home, on I-90 out of Boston to Albany.

As their car went by, one of three rather long-haired, "Peace Loving Citizens" threw a half full bottle of beer at me …… At 65 MPH. It turned into splaterred glass on the entrance ramp retaining wall behind me. Being spit upon would have truly been a blessing. Had the aim of this hirsute purveyor of flower power and Schlitz been 10 cm to the right, I may well have been shipped home in a box.

I am sure that this American lover of peace and tranquility must have mistaken me for one of you “murderers, rapists, and perpetrators of atrocities” returning home from that “unjust war” in Southeast Asia. I am as sure that his attitude was in no small part, shaped by the rhetoric of John Forbes Kerry.

Actually, unlike those of you who served “In Country” Vietnam, I had just returned from four years of sea duty, on a vessel whose purpose is to make sure that our government knows the location of the Soviet Unions Nuclear Missile Submarines, in America's effort to counter and avoid a Nuclear war.

But then................. the “hippy” didn't bother to ask.

There is another reason why the WWII and Korea vets have had a problem, and it is with Medicare and Unions. When my father returned from WWII the union was there and provided amply for us all..I disagree with him, however, that is a very powerful influence..and now with Medicare and the scare tatics of the Dems..

BUT..I can assure you..Kerry and his re-emergece into the poltical arena has energized my dad, and his friends..Medicare and unions be darned..he will support his President, his vets, and those that have served. Also..his age group fully supported GHW Bush, more campaiging fro his dad would help loads..

I was at a party in 1981 and notice that the host had a framed commendation (from Vietnam, sorry I don't remember the medal but I was impressed) on a very obscure wall. I asked him if he had served in Nam.

He reluctantly said "Yes."

I responded, "Thank you for serving"

He just broke down and cried and told me that my simple "thank you" was the first time anyone had said any kind words to him about his service.

My ex-husband was Navy and served 6 tours in Nam. He took a bullet in the hip and spent 3 months in hospital from a jungle fever. For years after he left the navy he would have nightmares and his legs would kick like he was trying to run. He too was on a Swift that got blown up in the river. He was shot in the rear as he ran for cover up the bank. He never put in for purple hearts and would never ever talk about his time there. No matter how hard I tried he wouldn't open up. I know now that he was made to feel ashamed of his service by the war protestors and very likely from the John Kerry and Jane Fonda types. He just kept it all bottled up inside. Alas, he became an alcoholic and I couldn't keep up the marriage. He is now a wasted, very lonely isolated person. I think the course of his life may have been entirely different if he had not had his valor stolen.
