Interesting news from a source not exactly part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy:

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2004/8/26/110700.shtml

In the report about this poll, showing Bush leading 49 to 46, Newsmax.com reports that:

"When voters were asked whether Kerry's protest against the war when he returned from Vietnam would influence their vote, 20 percent said it made them more likely to support him while 26 percent said it reduced the chance they would back him, and 52 percent said it made no difference."

If the second SBVT ad can shift a net 6% of the vote away from Kerry, that could be HUGE in "swing states". Are there any plans to run the second ad in large states such as FL, and MI?

Keep up the good work, guys!!!

I believe Florida and Pennsylvania have the highest per capita of veterans. Both of those states are winnable and they have lots of electorial votes. They would be excellent targets. Also the three cable news networks would be good ad buys since a whole cross section of America tunes in now and then. Chris Matthews would croak.

Excellent thought Steve

Also maybe ads could be run in Oregon and other early vote states. Bush only lost Oregon by 7000 votes in 2000.

seems like us cable news junkies are already getting a pretty good dose at no cost to SBVT...

If donations remain high, perhaps ads placed in all of these currently blue battleground states would make sense:

Zogby polls do tend to favor Democrats more than most other polls. It's quite revealing that a 7.8% lead is "within the margin of error"--with margins of error that wide, do these polls mean anything?

But I do agree that even though cable-news and talk radio have been giving SBVT a lot of free publicity these days, running the second SBVT ad in some big swing states (especially veteran-heavy states) could pay dividends SOON, before the media gets distracted by the Republican convention.

Somehow, I've also noticed that photo-ops from the campaign trail seem to show people in uniform gathered around Bush, and not Kerry. I wonder why?
