|

I am so tired of hearing that John Kerry was so brave because he volunteered, well he couldn't get a deferment so his volunteerism was a reasonable choice like many other veterans. He certainly didn't volunteer to stay his full tour.
However, Pat Tillman went without fanfare gave more than 3 1/2 months.
There is no COMPARISON. Pat Tillman was the real deal. _________________ Up - Down, In - Out, Black - White, Truth - Kerry |

I knew Pat Tillman, I was his teamate at ASU. Yes he is a Hero, in every sense of the word, and he fought for what he believed in. I do know that he wouldn't want to be used as a political example. He would have told you very bluntly in only the way he could that using him in comparisons for your own self serving gratification would be pathetic. Thats just how honest the guy was. So out of respect for Pat, the most admorable person I have ever met, leave him out of your debate. I'm not so sure he would agree with your intentions. |

Pat was a humble guy and pointing out this fact about Pat is not 'self serving gratification' he was a model and pretty much characterized the heart of nearly EVERY person who has fought for this Great Nation. _________________ Earl J Lear II

Everytime I hear Pat Tillmans name, I am reminded not only of his bravery and honorable service, but that fool Ted Rall who in the spirit of socialists/communists decided to write about what a fool and worse he was for joining up then dying. Let us not forget those who would dishonor Mr. Tillman as well. _________________ "An activist is the person who cleans up the water, not the one claiming its dirty."

Seriously, If you knew him he would have said that. He disliked being portrayed as an example for others, and would always respond with a humorus smart-ass comback.

Me again, I guess that pretty much makes this post a valid one because most true war hero's go to their grave without talking about their service. Unless of course you are John Kerry then that four months is the most important time in the history of civilization.
This point is sad because its vital to pass the torch to younger generations before they are programmed in the liberal colleges. _________________ Earl J Lear II

Brian, while I have no way of knowing if you really played with and knew Pat Tillman or not, everything I have read or heard about the man is 100% consistant with what you have said.
I would suggest that people respect the feelings Brian expressed on the subject.
Since his passing, the words "hero" and "war" are no longer in my vocabulary when I am talking about football. _________________ Whose side is John Kerry really on? Take this quiz and decide for yourself.

I couldn't agree more. |

You know the great thing about this nation is that we all have our own opinions and can freely state them. I respect yours concerning your friend, but I have the right to state mine. I am not using his legacy for political purposes as a matter of fact Mr. Tillman and I would probably have had little in common other than my admiration for his service.
I wonder if Mr. Tillman would have made an issue of my post in such a way as you. I never knew him, I do not personally know John Kerry or George Bush or any high profile person, but this does not exclude me from my right to make comparitive points based upon fact.
You imply that Mr. Tillman could defend himself well then there is no need for you too. Not now - not ever. We can agree that he was big enough not to worry about what I think--regardless of politics. _________________ Up - Down, In - Out, Black - White, Truth - Kerry |
