Regardless of EVERYTHING....McCain should not try to silence Veterans that he does not agree with their message.

If McCain is absent of the facts he needs to educate himself. His continue actions being made out of ignorance only show a bias to his friendship with his fellow Senator.

Swift-Vets should write a letter or ask McCain to comment to them. If McCain can not communicate directly with the Swift-Vets he should do the honorable thing and stand down, while others carry on a conversation to which they were participants.

This story on front of Yahoo right now

I just read that, and can't believe that the MSM would just parot what was said without bringing up the fact that doing ANYTHING to silence citizens political opinions is against the 1st amendment. Evil or Very Mad

I think it's time for an open letter to the media decrying their bias and failure of professionalism.

Some one draft it . Post it here or elsewhere and each of us can cut and paste it into email to go to all our press contacts. See the press contact list in the Research section.

From what explanation I have heard on this action....it is not to silence the 527 groups. No one wants to step on 1st amendment rights. What they are basically doing is trying to get the FEC to limit the amount a single individual can contribute to 527's that are going to specifically mention a candidates name to $2000 per individual (same as the hard money regulations). It would also call for transparency (the names of the contributors). It would basically put an end to someone like George Soros from "buying the presidency".

Kerry balks at that because that is where the majority of their money comes from (millionaire donations). He wants his 527's for that reason.

I think it is too late in the political season for anything to happen before this election.

SBVT should ask him flat-out why he criticizes SBVT's ads while remaining silent on the enemy's use of Kerry's statements to torture POWs psychologically. He should also be asked if he endured torture to avoid giving the NVA what Kerry gave them for free: war crime "confessions."

McCain is a decent guy and a genuine hero even if I do not agree with his politics. Kerry is UNWORTHY of McCain's support.

He will probably keep a safe distance from the Swiftvets so that the MSM does not turn on him.

This is a rope-a-dope ploy by Bush (two dopes with one rope). Bush knows full well the FEC isn't going to do anything. He wants to put Kerry on the spot - join with us in this effort. If Kerry doesn't, he exposes himself as a hypocrite and strains his relationship with McCain. If he accepts, there will definitely some backlash among the LLL.

The other dope - MSM. Remember those champions of campaign finance reform? Their current lack of support is already being noticed. Remember also, McCain is their hero. What's a biased media to do.

Stay the course, determinedly. McCain is not the enemy even though he is a politician doing what politicians do. Flipper John is the enemy and he should not be allowed to hide behind McCain, Bush, Looney Lanny, Caveman Carville or anyone else.

John McCain should be left along ;I know he spent years as a POW. I know that he was mad for years at John Kerry and I belive it was because of Kerry involment of the Vietnam protect and like some of the other POW
who has stated what happen to them while POW because he and Jane Fond
help and aided the North Vitcom . That last thing I'll like for someone for me to tell John Kerry I said " Go To HEAVEN " and he need to ask the LORD for forgiveness.68/69 Vietnam War Vet. GOD Bless our land the USA

Remember this the next time some liberal pundit claims that the Bush campaign is 'smearing' Kerry the same way the 'smeared' John McCain in the 2000 campaign:

Bush was on a stage and a Vietnam Vet said he was dissapointed with the way McCain had voted on veteran's issues and that was why he was voting for Bush.

In McCain's mind, that somehow morphed into a direct attack of his 'war record' and his 'service to his country' and he just wanted G W to know 'how much that hurts'.

Kerry and the DNC are trying the same tired tactic in this campaign. Whenever the campaign finally leaves Vietnam behind and gets back to the issues facing this COUNTRY RIGHT NOW, every time Bush points out Kerry's HORRIBLE record on voting on veteran's issues and defense and intelligence issues, Kerry is going to look at the camera and give this hurt and betrayed look and talk about how it's just not right for the President to 'attack his war record' and 'question his patriotism'.

There WAS no JOhn McCain smear, yet the press keeps repeating that like it's a fact.

McCain knew he was just using a campaign tactic; he is now CAMPAIGNING FOR GEORGE BUSH.

McCains take on the first SwiftVet article is that we all need to leave Vietnam behind us and focus on the issues that matter right now. He can't help it that Kerry made Vietnam the centerpiece of his campaign, and everyone knows he and Kerry had to have a few heartfelt talks before McCain would forgive Kerry for what he did after coming home from the war, but as far as McCain was concerned, all this stuff was over.

What he can't seem to grasp is that for millions of vets, it's not over and they never got to have the heart to heart talk with Kerry that McCain did, and Kerry has never publicly apologized for his micharactizations and deceptions during his anti-war appearances.

McCain can't seem to grasp how disturbing the idea of Kerry as commander in cheif is to the SwiftVets. It's just another political campaign as far as McCain is concerned. Bush is gonna win anyway because Kerry has no program and will keep flopping and flipping all over the place. And now............oh God, here come these SwiftVets and now we gotta relive Vietnam all over again. It's pointless to McCain.

But he will admit that Kerry asked for it. Boy, did he ask for it. And boy, is he getting it and he will get it up to election day and beyond.
