My boss was a Vietam Vet. He said that other than dodging bullets, Vietnam actually wasn't so bad. (No significant emphasis about atrocities.) His "Vietnam" problems actually started after Vietnam because of the "warm" reception that Vets got from their follow countrymen upon returning home. He said that he and other Vets he knew have bitterness against their fellow Americans but not John Kerry. He explained that he never blamed John Kerry because he, and presumably other Vets, didn't know about John Kerry and his congressional testimony.

I'll follow up later but now I'm seeing three Vietnam's. One Vietnam is a geographical place. Another Vietnam is the statistically wrong picture that John Kerry painted about US Soldiers in Vietnam. The third Vietnam actually came out of the American people who treated their own countrymen/Veterans like scum in their own homeland presumably as a consequence of being blinded by John Kerry's testimony.

Sorry for being blunt. But I feel these things need to be put on the table, election year or no election year.

Thanks

Sorry but you used the past tense "treated". From what I've read about the Swift Boat Vets in the national media, it's the present tense "treat" that applies.
