Someone was just on Scarborough and said Kerry's web site and DD 214 has Kerry with a V on his Silver Star. The guy said that's impossible as the Navy does not issue "V" with a Silver Star. Comments?

Looks like a typo to me. If you look above you see the Bronze with the Combat V. I would think the yoman just made a mistake. To good to be true but everything helps.

Would Kerry just let such a typo, if that is what it is, stand? Would he just enjoy the gratification of a pumped up award? Or would he think it important to make sure it's accurate?

even if a typo, he had to know it was there. isn't this medal the one that has three versions of it? If it's that important to him, how could he not notice such a mistake?

He had to have known it was there. When he filed for the DD215 he requested to get additional medals for his tour on the Gridley. He should have resolved the matter then, when he had the opportunity. Correct the mistake of the Silver Star with V to be simply a Silver Star. He was looking pretty hard into getting those additional tours on the Gridley to be attributed to him (and rightful so from what I can tell I guess), but without a doubt, that was the time for him to clear up the mistake on the Silver Star.

Funny how that typo would slip his mind when he filed his DD215. A correction of the DD214.

Wonder if his actual discharge date is a typo too? All of his anti-war activity took place while he was still in the military. He wasn't discharged from the reserves until Feb, 1972. So, when he went and met with the enemy, he was still in the service. Isn't that curious?
