Actually it wasn't titanium, but rather a graphite composite. Have to remember the SR-71 Black Bird was flying in the 60's and we didn't even get a graphite tennis racket till the 80's.
There is a Black Bird on display at the Comsosphere in Hutchinson, Kansas which they allow you to go touch. Supspended from the ceiling it is quite a sight. And the Jet is all wings and engines. You're right, the airframe was titanium. I found a page showing temperature distribution along the composite panels. I apologize for posting that it was titanium without looking it up first.
