Nobody (as far as I can tell) appears to have asked about radio traffic
during the Bronze Star incident: five boats are ambushed by a considerable force- 500 yards or more on BOTH sides of a canal delivering sustained fire could be a hundred VC, or more (and would they only be AFTER the mine, or also BEFORE in case the boats turned back?)
That is an impressive number of VC in one spot, and I shouldn't imagine it
was common for the VC to manouver in such large numbers in that sector...kinda exciting?
And all the boats have radios, so...calls for air-support? fire-missions?
reinforcements? And follow-up intellegence reports? Mounting a task force to pursue this considerable body of VC?
Or did everyone know it was a half-dozen guys manning a plunger, who took off after blowing the mine and MAYBE taking a couple of pot-shots?
There should be something in unit records...or a dog that DIDN'T bark? |
