I served active duty USN for six years (68-74) and I take extreme offense to your denigration of Guard service. The National Guard has served this country honorably from the beginning, and you should be ashamed of yourself for denigrating their service.

If you don't like Bush, that's your privilege, but do not insult our Guard brothers to score points against Bush. That reflects very poorly on your service as well.

You obviously have no respect for the military. Do duty and honor mean nothing to you?

Have I made myself clear?

Folks, I've enjoyed this and I thank everyone who's come on this thread to talk to me. But if I can't say the things I see as needing to be said without being censored, then I can't be spending too much time here.

John Kerry is running for President, which presumably is why any of this matters in the first place. If you're going to say that he isn't qualified to be CINC, then it's entirely reasonable to ask the question, compared to what? That's what I was talking about in the paragraph that has been taken out of my original posting. There was nothing vulgar or incendiary in it, only facts from the public record about things that George Bush has done while in office that may have unnecessarily endangered the lives of some brave men and women in uniform. Unfortunately that wasn't on-message enough, or close enough to the official party line here, for all the boys and girls who frequent this site to be permitted to read it. So it's okay to talk here about how John Kerry's antiwar activities in 1971 and thereabouts may have endangered the lives of troops, but not about how George Bush's actions during and after the lead-up to the Iraq war might have. Thanks for setting me straight on that.

I expect to be off this thread for a while because I'm going to look for a site where issues like those brought up by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth can be talked about in an open and unobstructed way. If I find one, I'll come back on and post it, so if there's anyone who still wants to talk at me we can go over there and chatter away. Old soldiers like to b.s. as much as young ones do, and there's little I enjoy more than a spirited discussion of issues with fellow vets. In the meantime I thank you all for your service to our nation, and for sharing your thoughts and opinions with me. May the Higher Power bring good things to all of you.

How many NG Rangers have died in Iraq?

Back in Vietnam?

They wore the uniform right along with me. W was fighting the Russians...anybody remember the "Cold War" back then?

To say his service was less than Honorable, or to denigrate it anyway, denigrates us all. This person is a socialist. They are all sick in the head. What is the old saying "If you less than 21 and not a liberal you have no heart, if you're over 21 and you're a liberal, you have no brain."

Nuff said.

In your letter, old sarge, I saw alot of things that were Emotional based, as to why we should vote for one JF KERRY, Perhaps we should not look at the ANTI war stance on an emotional stand point, perhaps we should look at this with facts. I believe history has shown that when a Liberal is in office this country gets the shaft overseas, Surely you will not argue, atleast recent years about LBJ, Carter, and ofcourse we cannot forget Clinton. In those years we have seen administrations allow street thugs kill and kidnap our troops, LBJ escalated the vietnam war beyound recovery.

I would submit to you that, although what happened to you is unfortunate, and I thank you for your service, there are also families out there that Wish Clinton had taken more action, after the towers bombing, the USS Cole, the first world trade center, Im sure there are families that wish he had told the appropriate chain of command to stand down on previous orders in Somalia, as clinton decided to degotiate with that dope selling thug. leaving troops dead and drug through the dusty streets of Mogadeshu,[sp?].
as you can see there are many emotional stories out there that could counter yours, lets stick with facts, lets look at what could happen in the next four years to our troops under each leadership. lets look at who has displayed LEADERSHIP and honesty, lets look at voting records.

I understand your point that you are bitter for your loss, Im sorry you never recovered physically, mentally or emotionally,
Perhaps the road to recovery isnt a road of negative hatred btut a road of forgivness, and recognition.

Just a thought from a fellow Gulf Vet.

In my humble opinion it's up to the challenger to prove themselves worthy of replacing the incumbant POTUS/CIC. For crying out loud Kerry won't even authorize the release of all of his military records like he virtually demanded that Bush do, and he's run as fast and far away from his Senate voting record as he possibly could. Add to those the fact that Kerry hasn't said one word about all the anti-Bush organizations but chatises Bush for not ordering the Swiftboat Veterans to cease and desist. Can you say "Do as I say, not as I do."?

I guess we both have to honor those whose service we respect and admire in our own ways.

Curious double talk. Those who served in heavy combat, wounded several times yet refused Purple Hearts, come home and face an angry and hateful citizenship, stirred up by lies and innuendo from a future presidential candidate and an admitted socialist and who still face the scorn of a misled public as to their missions and after effects brought on by the same public that wishes to deny them validity as to what they experienced and were subjugated to endure, deserve no respect, "in your own way?"

But, an anti-war opportunist that keeps changing stories on how he asked for and was awarded a few shakey medals, that several others were denied for actual meritorious service, deserves highest accolades simply because he asked for a safe duty that was changed to a heavier combat role while he was in training and he managed to skip out abandoning his crew he loved so much?

What part of 4 months in country makes him so much better qualified? Is the anti-war activities afterwards?

Is it the voting against military appropriations so often?

Is it the not showing up for some 80% of Intelligence Committee meetings while he was on it?

Is it trying to reduce the Intelligence budget by billions of dollars, after the first World Trade Center attack?

Is it trying to decimate the activie military budget to further send Veterans Healthcare facilties into debt by helping open it up to every single veteran that may not merit inclusion into it?

Or, is it voting to send our military to war, then voting against the funds to ensure they are properly equipped, after he actually voted for it?

If it looks like a weasel, acts like a weasel and sounds like a weasel, there's a good chance, it actually is a weasel.

You did say that President Bush was not a Veteran in your eyes or something to that effect. And that is what got me to post a reply to you otherwise I would have moved on to another post. I know that part was taken out of your post, so like kerry you can now deny it was ever said or there in the first place, like it seems you already are.

6,077 National guardsmen & reservists lost there lives in Vietnam.
And throughout history there has been 140Congressional Medal of Honor winners. I don't know anyone except the kerry/clinton propagandists that doesn't consider that SERVICE to there COUNTRY!

There are plenty of websites that should be right up your alley just do a google search for "hate america first" or "bush haters" they should be the sympathetic ear you need at this point. Rolling Eyes

Democrat supporters simply don't get it. This forum has absolutely nothing to do with supporting Bush but has EVERYTHING to do with the dishonorable service and actions of one candidate - John Kerry.

The facts have been laid out in the countless threads, annoucements and sworn statements of SBVT. To date they have not been disproven or discounted by John Kerry and we will not allow them to be simply dismissed with diversions.

old_sarge comes here uttering the same very worn party line and from his replies will probably never open his eyes to the possibility that his candidate isn't what he's made out to be. Rather than discuss the issues raised by this forum he wants to redirect the focus and I for one will not be swayed.

I find myself wanting to repeat all of the information in this forum and elsewhere but not only is it duplicitive, I believe it will be a waste of time.

Stay with your party old_sarge, keep that party line, don't waiver or be distracted from those who disagree with you. You've got your little cozy space and I would hate to see one such as yourself without your comforter.
