Kerry's supposed service is all a front for his grab for power and influence. His self serving ways are evident from the time he volunteered for Vietnam and then showed up over there with a movie camera to record his exploits. How many soldiers or sailors do you think showed up in Vietnam with movie cameras and strutted around like some movie star. I only know of one Mr. JFK.

For me, I bought my first 35mm camera over there and took soome stills. Not one can I say makes me look like a hero in anyway, just a regualr guy doing his duty keeping my unit's helicopters flying. Also, some pictures of guys I served with, too many of whom I can't remember their names.

That he has any movies showing him doing "heroic acts," shows me what his original aspirations were. No one that I knew of remade movies depicting themselves as heroes. All I knew were too busy surviving to do so. Most pictures I have are of aftermaths, damage to choppers and such, none depicting fighting.

Ditto to what Lew said. Usually had a compliment of 60+ on our unit; no movie cameras present. Although the 35mm deals at the exchanges were hard to pass up.

Im sure a few might have had cameras, maybe for pictures of buddies ect. But to hand it over to someone else? Its like, look at johnny being a hero, aint he brave. Im surprized he didnt hand the camera to a friend while pulling rassmann out. I havent seen all of his flicks, but they must be good cause I heard hes in the dink hall of fame! Wink

I bought an 8mm movie camera at the exchange in Subic when I
was on the Eversole around 71 - 72. I've got a couple of rolls of
film around here somewhere, but I never bought a projector so I
really don't know what I have on them. I do have a pretty good flat
bed scanner with an attachment to do negatives and slides so maybe
I'll dig around for the film and do stills.

Now camcorders are a whole different world. Lots of those floating
around in Iraq these days along with digital still cameras. But no one
would get into trouble with those puppys now, would they.

I'd like to hear from whoever was filming him and see if he agrees how heroic Johnny was and how staged it all was.

Lew, someone needs to count noses in his movie, could of been rassmann doing the filming in the water to get a zoom-shot of "johnny to the resque".

That question was the reason for my orginal post:

Kerry Stumps His Toe

I am a former Marine with just one tour of duty ending in July 1967. I am not a Hero, I did see combat in Vietnam but only the slightest exposure with enemy contact. I was at Khe Sanh during what has become to be know as “The Hill Fights”. I gave comfort to many of our dead and wounded. That is my story . It begins and ends with little fanfare and deserves little more attention than it ever got.
I have always considered my self an “independent” when it comes to voting. Always like to think I voted for the “man” rather than for the party. Always liked to think I put principal before anything else. I did vote for Jimmy Carter and I also voted for Ronald Regan. I voted for Bush senior and with regrets, for Ross Perot.

Frankly, I believe John Kerry is a poser. I believe that his combat photos released by his campaign are staged and or were staged when he was in Vietnam. I NEVER saw
an Officer or anyone taking movie pictures of himself in Vietnam. I NEVER saw movie pictures being taken by Marines at Khe Sanh strutting around with an M16 like they were on a turkey hunt. What struck me more was how clean that uniform is that he is wearing. Check it out, he looks like he just got out of the bathtub. Soldiers, who have lived in the bush, know that dirt is part of their skin. The movie picture was staged and it was staged for a purpose and we are seeing that purpose today... Kerry’s run for President. I resent the use of the battle field being used for a movie production for political glory . I believe it stains our sacred dead. Rather than making a mini-movie of his exploits during a very minor action, he should have been about his job. To be candid, this film of Kerry simply makes me angry as another incident did long ago.

In 1966, a Marine Corps General near De Nang was awarded the purple heart because he stumped his big toe while running for cover during a mortar attack. Unbelievable as it sounds, the incident was written up in the Stars and Strips. I will never forget the feeling of anger and shame; visit Delta Med or the Death Hooch at Khe Sanh in mid 1967 and you understand what a purple heart is all about. Such awards are for the gravest circumstances where the balance of risk and injury are judged by those who have seen real suffering. Kerry may have won three purple hearts, but it is clear that at least one of those was questionable. Like that General, Kerry’s decoration dilutes the sacrifice of so many who never will have a chance to pose before a movie camera and reenact their brave actions. Let me tell you, from what I have seen, few, if any, would be anxious to go back into the hills of Khe Sanh for a photo opt.

Kerry was in Vietnam and I give him credit for his service he was aggressive and I admire that but he was manipulative and utilized his command to stretch the truth to further what clearly are his political goals and much like that Marine Corps General who when awarded a purple heart because he stumped his toe, had lost sight of what that medal represented and thus has lost my respect.

Sincerely,

James Rebe’l

If there was so many bad guys in these areas where he made himself a hero how could he risk going back to these spots to re-enact his heroics. Would that be risky or brave. Anybody know who took the movies? We never came back the same way we went out. Ive never heard of going back in the bush and refilming or making up your own heroics. Semper Fi.

Rebel , your right cause it just snugs up my jaw to see the creep think hes pulling it off. Not to mention how it cheapens what so many gave! Im sure hollywood john wanted to make a pt 109 movie someday. But hes got 2 problems with that, first-he wont be pres.,second-the movie would be longer than his tour.

Get this, Kerry takes how many boats back to REEACT how he was awarded his SILVER STAR. How much money did this cost?????? Where did this Junior officer get the grit to do this, how many guys were involved? AND remember the Kerry campain was the one who put this footage on the news AND wanted the public to beleive that is was REAL COMBAT footage. Not since Douglas McAuther have I seen anything like this. What a phoney, I knew that film was phoney and thatys why I joined with the SwiftVets!!! I know a lot more now.

Damn! I have been asking this question for a long time. The pathetic part is that NO media has asked who took these movies and where did you find the time to do it. The problem is that there are not enough veterans asking these type of questions and the SHEEP we call the american public just follow others(THE DEMS) to the slaugterhouse(KERRY). This creep is a showboat. I NEVER carried a camera to the field or on an op.

The majority of those 58,178 brave souls on the Wall, ONLY received the Purple Heart. The gall of Kerry to ask for and receive 3, for scratches, brings words to my mind that I could not print here.

It's pretty simple.

kerry is nothing more than a coniving unstable senator who may have documented mental disorders, IMHO. (sleepwalking, etc....)

It is unbelieveble that the MSP refuse to investigate kerry's actions in vietnam...

They were all over other candidates service but only sum up kerry's with whatever he says goes...

Thank You SBVT for outlining and helping to define the real kerry, that of a guy who fled after dumping off a visitor to his boat, fleeing the scene, and then fleeing again due to his meager injury...

I saw a great question someone had in an email to fox.

They asked...

How many veterans received 3 PH's in 4 months and did not have permanent disabilities related to those PH's...?

Regards,
Joe

Rebel, you think his superiors authorized his photo shoot? I doubt that they knew he had taken these men and equipment off to film his exploits. I wonder how he convinced others to risk their life to reenact his few minutes of glory. If he took his crew off on this film shoot without letting them know what he was up to, then he's about as sorry a leader as I can think of.
