On June 4,1969, at 2:50 AM, a USMC recon composed of just 6 men, was attacked near the abandoned village of Khe Sahn. In the initial assault, one Marine was killed, one was seriously wounded, and the other four all had minor wounds. They called in artillery on calls and an OV10 arrived quickly. It was quick but brutal. In 30 minutes all six Marines were dead. Their names were: William Buck, Jr., Michael O'Conner, Douglas Barnitz, Robert Pearcy, Harold Skaggs, and William Wellman, Jr.
This Memorial Day, I'll remember these men and all the others that gave all they had to give so that we could continue to argue the merits of those who would be President.
I'm sure all of you have a list.
