I watched some of the CSPAN coverage today, which appeared to be an all-out assault of hate and venom directed at GWB. I also saw Swift Boat signs among the marchers. I know it is NYC....., but I was stunned by the raw energy and hatred of GWB.....but no support of Kerry.

I still haven't seen any media coverage from the rally in D.C. Hmmmm maybe the media hates George ! I sure did see pleanty of coverage of the Bush haters in N.Y. Also I here that J f'n K is gona hold a press confrence during the Grand ole' Party, Funny I don't remember the Republicans trying to steal the stage during the Democratic convention. Kerry doesn't respect the system, or the country, It's veterans or its flag.

I enjoy watching protests, actually. They make me feel so normal. Laughing

I think their temper tantrums (aka protests) just emphasize the differences between the "extreme" left and the rest of America. I personally feel that they are doing more to unite moderate democrats and mod. republicans than the candidates ever could!

I was up there as part of the protestwarrior.com actions and can say that it was a very successful operation. While we were threatened with violence and attacked on a few occassions, we faced a LOT of harrassment from people screaming unintelligibly at us, thrown bottles and water, shoving, spitting and the like. There were about 250 or so of us, and I think we managed to pick up another 30-40 or so guys that joined in with us (including a number who were part of the liberal march until they saw that the peace and freedom they portray only agrees to people that agree with them. I saw a couple of SBVFT posters from some independent guys out there floating around.

Matt, watch your backs out there in your Counter Protest there are some seriously demented people out there and it is going to get worse as the week goes on.

I will be moving this topic to the Geedunk Forum .

Matt, the protest warriors have my utmost respect. The signs you make are hilarious I can't stop laughing when I see them, you obviously drive the lefty's nuts, even nuttier than they were to begin with. And what's better, the sane ones are seeing the light and coming over to your side. That is REAL GOOD NEWS!

The protests could actually be the undoing and end of Kerry. People who only watch the major networks are going to finally see the truth about who really supports Kerry. It's not pretty and most of America is not going to like it. I say bring it on.

The mortorium on interrupting the opposition party's convention with press conferences or overt campaigning is based on the honor system. President Bush took some vacation days and stayed out of the news during the DNC convention. It was the honorable thing to do.

Kerry doesn't qualify.

I've got a full time job so unfortunately I'm back in CT now. I'd love to have been able to spend the week up there continuing the counter-protests, but paying the mortgage has precluded that LOL. There was plenty of violence and threats of violence, but when you're that pumped up with adrenelin and there are completely random people in the streets picking up the chant of "Four more years", it's such a powerful experience that concern for personal safety, while not going away, at least is taking the passenger seat.

I have to say that I am so glad that I did it, and can't wait to do it again. I'm tired of taking the "high road" by quietly not confronting people and not excercising my 1st Ammendment rights as much as I should. If anyone hasn't ever done this, there is no replacement for the feeling of being outnumbered 1,000 to 1 in enemey territory and watching THEM back off. There are pictures starting to become available over on the PW site now, so if anyone wants a good laugh from some really amusing signs, you might pop over for a minute just to check out the after-action reports coming in.

I just wish I had thought to print out my own SBVFT sign to bring up with me.

A friend of mine lives in the heart of the city, so I asked him if he had seen the demonstration. He actually described it more as a "parade," with lots of colorful characters and signs. He works on the weekends and wondered how on earth could people spend so much time demonstrating all week long instead of going to work or doing something productive. Typical liberal agenda - let others work so you can get the handout. And when others don't work? Go out and blame the government for not doing enough.

I was watching a huge gathering of various protestors in a meeting discussing their rules & strategy & giving peptalks & legal advice, etc, on C-Span in the wee hrs today. (I don't know if it was from Sat or Sun, only caught part of it) - talking about their lawyers with orange hats in the crowd & warning about the evil tactics of the police that are not only stopping people from wearing masks, but even stop you if you have a mask in your pocket. (!! )

They sarcastically said that it was ridiculous to think that a terrorist would be in the middle of a crowd of bikers, or in the middle of peaceful demonstrators walking down the street, and that all of this police action is an arm of Bush. [I don't think I'd want these people in charge of foreign policy!]

One by one these organizers of various groups got up, and they were talking about the Neo-Fascist Bush, and how the Patriot Act was a tool to destroy their liberty, etc, etc - and that it is stupid to impinge on liberty in order to protect the nation -- and they can't let that happen -

and that this is all about defeating bush, because: "Bush won't stop the imperalist America the way that Kerry will!"

Then they said "other people" will be protesting there and that they are not a part of this protest and that they are merely fringe groups, fanatics, and that what all these protestors need to do is to not get involved with them or talk to them, but that they should "contain these other protestors" [I don't know what that means] -- and then he ended with: "these people are the Swiftvets of Karl Rove!"

.....looks like there are some ugly feelings out there -- really hostile, and they definitely see the SwiftVets as their enemies!! Good thing I've got to go to work right now and won't be able to think about this for awhile...

I'd be careful -- any of you in those streets this week.... take care.

First I'd like to say WoW ! 1000 caskets, not that was impressive. I wonder what they will do with them now, The Republicans would donate them to the Veterans or homeless, but the Dems will probably put them on e-bay or use them for the next demonstration. Anyways the real reason I'm posting again is to also bring up how damned irresponsible these demonstrators are. In the midst of a war on terrorism and the Republicans National Convention, they see fit to put a strain on the security that is trying to thawart another terrorist attack. I'm a Republican but first of all "I am an American" and I would be heartbroken if terrorist were to attack there convention or ours. The hate that they spew has clouded there common sense and they need first of all to be good Americans.
