AX2 P-3C Tweeker - VP-31/40 (78-83)
1. Ah! A Moffett P-3A Vet. Alameda I'm guessing with the P-5M? Nice to meet you and have you aboard, AME1 Dave.
2. Another Tweek! I remember when VP-46 was at Moffett. Welcome aboard Praga! _________________ "The object of war is to make the other poor dumb bastard die for his country." LtGen Geo. S. Patton, USA 1944.

Hi Bill,
VP-9 moved to Kananhoe (sp). My best friend an FE with VP-9. Most VP's moved from Moffet went to either Whidbey Island or Hawaii. Still do rotations in Misawa and Diego Garcia, with a sprinkling of Bahrain thrown in for good measure.
Good to see another VPer. |

I.B. is now a pratice field and everyone moved up to NASNI its sad seeing the good Bases like IB shut down after seeing all the money dump in them. thats like NAS DALLAS seen that base get overhalled and then seen it shut down everyone from there was moved to Carswell over in Ft Worth TX and there was big bucks dumped there before it was closed and then reopend, |

I liked Imperial Beach, it was a nice laid-back base. Unlike most of the guys here, the most dangerous things we encountered were: a) Taking baseball swings at the droop-stops on the SH2s with broom handles when they stuck, and b) Capturing groups of Mexicans sneaking across the border while standing line watches. (It was ok though cuz we had a night stick and a helmet liner). _________________ VP-31/HSL-31/HSL-35 '70-'74 |

Welcome Aboard Senior,
Personally, I always thought VP squadrons were the best job in the Navy. |

Hey Guys:
Sounds like the VP Navy took a big hit.... Moved them all over. Have fond memories of Moffat Fld. FE school in VP31 then to VP 9 '71 - '72,
VP 10 '76 - '80, CPW2 '80 - '85 (I guess Barbers Pt. is gone too).

I still have VP31 tools in my toolbox. Just prior to the Connie leaving on a WestPac in October of '71 my best friend was transferred to VP31 at Moffett Field. It just so happens I was from San Jose and my new bride was moving back to San Jose while I was on the cruise. For most of the cruise I got letters from my wife about all the fun things she and Jerry were doing.
Any of you guys know Jerry Biddle? If so do you know how i can get in touch with him?
A friend of my wife's brother was an AW1 at Moffett but I'm not sure which squadron he was in. His name is Jim Phillips and I still see him occasionally.
BTW, I went to 'AT' school at Millington in '68 when they were beginning the AW rate. I failed the swimming test or I would have been in P3's.
