As I was surfing some of the anti-Kerry vet sites, I got hacked and had to do all kinds of stuff to get my computer back on line. Be careful.

What happened? I had some strange problems with my computer last night.... that i've never had before.... had to shut down totally! and restart... and it still did weird stuff... so thru out the night, I defragged and did disk scan... so far today it seems ok....

I only went out to 'article' sites... ones given by forum mates.

Everyone on the Internet should be running a Firewall Program as well as an Anti Virus Protection. Most problems come from e-mail and from web sites with malicious programs running on their site.
Keep your Security Software up to date and make sure you run the Updates from Microsoft especially the Security Upgrades!

There are around 20,000 known spyware programs out there on the web.

Spyware can cause your system to do all kinds of weird stuff, slow down, crash, etc.

I highly recommend downloading and using both adaware and SpyBot. Free or cheap and very effective at getting rid of nasties that web sites try to install on your computer.

I'm moving this to the geedunk, shortly, but I'll be glad to try to help if you post to this thread.

I found one in one of the Vet links on my website. I think it's No John Kerry- can't remember for sure.

If you get the chance, visit and read what the "Media" did with today's news! Chopped it all to hell.!
It's under Liberal One Sided Media -post date 8/30

Mac is the way to go, despite the presence of Al Gore on the board.

Mozillla Firefox is the answer for browsing when using a Windows system

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

it is rock solid and not plagued with the problems that IE has with malicious code

Rolling Eyes

I get those without going to any political sites.

you should download the zone alarm firewall. it's free and it's better than the microsoft one that comes with xp.

I thought I was just being paranoid. I was thrown off just this morning when I tried to watch the new video. When I logged on again I tried to click back on swiftvets and it originally said I had been banned. When I retyped the address it allowed me back in. Very wierd stuff.

Have to agree about Mozzilla Firefox as an alternative to Explorer. It has a built in popup blocker and is also faster than Explorer. A tech geek buddy of mine showed me it the other day and I have been using it for the past few days and it is a lot better.
If you do downoad it, it gives you the option of transferring your favorites and cookies from IE. I would not reccomend transferring cookies and files as that is where a lot of the SpyWare comes into your system.
Also just from personal experience AdAware does a great job of removing Spyware from your system.
Best of all these are both free to download and use.

Since veiwing Swiftvets, I was shut out twice. I had to Google to find you guys again. The first time the format was changed by you guys and I thought that had something to do with it.
