|
|
I have been trying to determine if there is indeed an official Navy investigation into Kerry's medals, esp. his Silver Star. I have read the articles by Thomas Lipscomband the Holzers, and have read the quotes of Mr. Burkett and former Secretary John Lehman, I have also searched these forums, but I can not find anything definitive.
So, is there?
If so, will Kerry be required to release all of his records?
If there is not, it is possible that there will be one soon? |

LiveFreeOrDie,
If there was an official Navy investigation, it would probably be operating "black" (as in no official statements and with as much secrecy as possible) until they were ready to made a formal statement/indictment. A JAG investigator does and would have access to records that would otherwise be protected by the Privacy Act. _________________ -Polaris

Yes, I wouldn't expect to see anything from them other than an "investigation has been started" announcement until they decide if they have a valid case or not, then they'll publically outline the charges. I bet Kerry is sweating a little over this. |

I doubt you'll even hear that.
What you may hear is a Navy spokesperson say (and then only in response to a direct query, they will not volunteer this) "We can neither confirm nor deny that there is an investigation in progress." _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

Oh, sorry, I thought I had read that they had already announced that. If not, you're probably right. |

If you can find a link to a legit news source that says that an official Navy inquiry has been launched, I'd like to see it.
You may be recalling the judicial watch request for an inquiry.
Although, with all of the retired flag officers and ringknockers raising a fuss, I'd be VERY surprised if the Navy has NOT launched an internal inquiry, just to see if the case has merit. Much like a police Internal Affairs investigation, you won't hear a word about it until after the fact. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

I read a post from The Bandit on his "Hideout" that said (copied from his post)

Free Republic:
Just listening to the Bob Grant show and Carl Limbacher from Newsmax was on and he just said there is an investigation underway with the US NAVY that Kerry might have tampered with his Silver Star citation. He also said Kerry will be forced to release all records.
This is one investigation no one on Kerry's side will say "We welcome this." |

Newsmax has stepped in it a time or two - and while they're usually right, eventually, I'm not holding my breath on this one.
I would bet that the Navy isn't going to TOUCH this until after the election, and maybe never.
This would be very bad for the anti-Kerry folks - an official Naval investigation during an election campaign? Can't see it, myself.
It would give the cheaters way too much to cry about, two months from now. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

You may know it already and sorry if it is a repeat, but Judicial Watch is doing exactly this right now. |
