Kerry has enough warts. You don't need to attribute this one to him. Both Kerry and Bush agreed to speak at their annual meeting before the Converntion dates were set. While I hate to say anthing good about Kerry at this point, you can't blame him for the timing on this one.

Kerry was in a bad position. Credibility shot, but expected to try and get AM votes and offer valid critiques of Maximum War Leader Bush's policies.

Kerry is certainly a flawed messenger, but that does not obviate his critiques of Bush's action from analysis.

-But the Legion was sitting on their hands not because they disagreed with Kerry on benefits, matters in which the country is going in the wrong direction, Bush's reluctance to beef up the Army, or his Neocon-induced disasters. They were waiting to Kerry to speak of the truly important things that reside in their soul-

There is that small matter of honor.

Stolen valor.

How their cherished service to their country was demeaned by opportunists like Kerry.

-So -

Kerry blew it. He gave a good recounting about Bush's stupider mistakes in the WoT and Iraq. He gave a fine critique of where Bush is letting Vets down on benefits, and our present military needs to keep his tax cuts going.

But he didn't say the two words that would have made his trip worthwhile.

I APOLOGIZE.

Thought I would share the following that I submitted on the JohnKerry website in response to his American Legion speech.

Senator Kerry,

I heard the speech at the American Legion, and have a question to ask, "Where is all the legislation in the past twenty years in the Senate that he could have introduced instead of saying 'If I am President...'?" If you were sincere and really interested in us veteran, then you would have had a record of introducing and making sure such legislation was passed during the past twenty years of your senate terms that you have promised to introduce today.

Also since I have read the Swift Boat Vets for Truth, and compared those facts with your falsehoods, I have decided to volunteer for the Bush campaign.

We must watch and confront the enemy. Remember he was an elected offical and could have sponsered legislation for all the things he now says should be done. Guess he's decided to DIS the SBVT once again. He makes me sick!..literally..

In John F-ing Kerry's entire time in the Senate, his name does not appear on one piece of legislation. John F-ing Kerry is a man, excuse the term, who is against things, he's never for anything. So, he has a 20 year record of absolutely nothing.

hmmm well I guess. But they should lay low during the other's convention. Canceling would have been the right thing to do. He had no business being there anyway. An obvious hypocrite.

Word to the wise. Don't attempt to eat lunch and watch Kerry at
the same time. I gave it 20 minutes worth and gave it up. One
thing that I wanted to see was shots of the audience to see what
the reaction was. Surprise, surprise. Just a head shot of Kerry.
He got all the American Legion gut issues and ticked them off one
by one blissfully ignoring the fact that he has been running obstruction
on this stuff for the last 20 years in the Senate.

I don't know what bothers me more. Kerry blithly contridicting a
20 year voting record in the Senate (not to mention his VVAW record)
or the Vets giving him applause. I sure wish that we could have seen
what the audience was doing.

They may not be showing the audience because they might capture more of one of the last vet meetings...

This is a disaster for kerry. He needed to either blast the swiftys, or bow down to them. Just trying to ignore them is going to make things worse for him (good). He is a wussy.

Kerry appeals to veterans

http://www.washtimes.com/national/20040901-014903-8459r.htm

Quote:
Vietnam veteran Manny Mirailh from South Canaan, Pennsylvania, was among a handful of veterans who walked out as Mr. Kerry began speaking.
"We, we, we, we," he said, rolling his eyes. "When did he join the Legion? He must have a mouse in his pocket."

After watching Kerry in Nashville I was moved to immeddiately
make another contribution to Swift Boat Vets.
The ad showing Kerry at Sentate Hearing is airing a great deal
here in Florida. We here are pretty jittery over the possible arrival
this coming weekend of hurricane 'Frances'.
