Ok, I have previously offered to do a "bullet point" clarification (this is basically what I do for a living -- making complex technical subjects simple, memorably, and understandable.)

But let me be clear this is a LOT of work and I will only do it if there is some interest from the principals AND/OR some of you will volunteer to help or turn it into more advanced versions.

My first cut would be a Word/Powerpoint document that can be turned into PDF and Web-HTML versions.

Now, if you want to do a documentary or even just animations, you can take such a simplification/clarification outlines and use them to create the story board for building video or animation sequence, and then elaborate the dialog or narration.

Do we have an ANIMATOR or is anyone a VIDEO editor?

Technical adviser: Swiftee from 68-70 preferred, Army SF from that time or place good too. (We need to know things like was aircover or indirect fire available to those stopped boats at the fish weir?) We at least need a combat Nam from that general area.

I was NEVER in Nam. I am Army Airborne 72-75 (hope that's ok with you Navy <grin>) and I know weapons pretty well, and after that I was a commercial diver including the Mississippie Delta and small boats in very similar (looking) waters and canals. Excellent with maps too.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am the real deal but can be a procrastinator if there are no deadlines or commitments!

My wife is a proof reader (you can likely tell that I need one <grin>) and has volunteered to help.

Anyone have a "voice"? -- I am a public speaker and can offer at least competent professional quality narration but we may be able to do better?

Anyone have a recording studio or mixing setup?

About graphics design? (related to but separate from animation)?

Project manager? (Ok, I taught project management too, but this is not my favorit role even though it must be done by someone -- I would rather do development.)

Anyone a political consultant?

Legal? (If we get serious a product created we need this...)

Publicist?

Are we serious (I am if you are) or are we all just sitting around in the geedunk (had to look that up) jawing?

Herb,
I would be happy to help, though I don't see why this website or some proceeds from oneills book can't help pay some team to do this.

I think making a documentary is absolutely essential to getting the message out as the media keeps suppressing it and many refuse to read the book apparently.

Making a documentary based on unfit for command and showing how some of the recent denouncements actually corroborate the evidence presented in the book. This will open peoples eyes. Internet is not used by everyone, many will see a movie or tv or dvd.

Stolen Honor is good, but there should be a comprehensive movie, and the title Unfit for Command would be great!

Personally I don't think it is going to happen -- and it if does happen it will be a GRASS ROOTS effort.

If outside "funds" are used it will likely be because we BUILT SOMETHING good and need to convert it to professional quality.

Time is short and no one seems to be stepping up to the challenges.

I have put myself out on the limb but no one has crawled out to join me.
Don't get me wrong, this is not "me focused" because I haven't actually ACCOMPLISHED much either.

Currently I am reading "Tour of Duty" and trying to organize the FAQ here and after that I will move on to something else that will help.

These are things you can do.
1) What about making this is a sticky
2) Poll people about making a documentary.
3) Sending an email list to the members requesting if they would be interested in participating/funding in making a documentary on Unfit for Command?
4) Possible: ? Contact that republican 527 that is coming out and suggest that they with their 25 million dollars back a documentary on the book.

DVD, VideoTape, and movie.
Best Seller. Any budding documentarians out there?

A documentary would be outstanding, but then who would show it?
The ads in themselves are in essence mini-documentaries and have shown
to be extremely effective.

www.frontpagemag.com has a copy of a flyer used by Kerry and his
VVAW. The actual flyer is very revealing and incindiary. If only I could
figure out how to paste it here.

Excerpt:
September 4, 1970 -- Operation RAW (Rapid American Withdrawal). Some 75 VVAW members begin a three-day hike to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Along the way they simulate war atrocities against civilians, and hand out flyers to townspeople stating that they might have been raped, murdered or tortured by the U.S. Infantry had they been Vietnamese, and claiming that "American soldiers do these things every day."

September 7, 1970 -- At the conclusion of Operation RAW, a rally is held in Valley Forge, featuring speeches by John Kerry, Jane Fonda, and Mark Lane. Fonda is quoted as saying that "...My Lai was not an isolated incident but rather a way of life for many of our military."

First, a documentary on the best seller would have to be accepted by many theaters, plus it would make them a lot of money I believe. The controversy would bring people in.

Second, we could alternatively (due to time) do a straight to dvd/video release of the documentary which could be more effective.

As far as I know you and I are "it". Lot's of people thought it was a good idea, but there really isn't much "I will work." response.

Making a full feature film is going to be tough plus time is running out
What about what Herb said , make a flash animation, a really good one
If it's real good that thing will spread and then the media will pick it up just like that jibjab funny animation

Someone really good with flash step up and get the ball rolling with Herb and others
