NEW YORK Probably the most incendiary moment in all of the television coverage of the Republican National Convention so far occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday night, during a Chris Matthews interview with Senator Zell Miller on MSNBC, which started hot and then grew angry after a question about reporters and freedom the press.
"You're hopeless," Miller told Matthews, dead serious, speaking over a hook-up from Madison Square Garden, where he had earlier delivered the keynote address. "I wish I was with you there because I want to get in your face." Then Miller said he wished they were back in the age when you could challenge someone to a duel. "I don't know why I came on this program," he added, amidst four minutes of heated exchanges.
Matthews had gotten on Miller's case right from the start, asking him if he really believed what he had said in his speech about Senator John Kerry wanting to defend America with "spitballs." As Miller fudged his answer, and Matthews in his customary style cut him short or talked over him, they each started shouting. Miller told Matthews to "get out of my face," later saying he wanted to get in Matthews' face.
Then Matthews asked him why he had said in his speech that "it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press." Matthews said it was such an obvious thing to say, wasn't he just looking for an easy "anti-media" applause line? That's when Miller went ballistic and nearly stalked off, with Matthews, not exactly backing down, struggling to calm him, which he did, after another minute of shouting.
The interview closed with Matthews saying that now Miller probably hated him, but invited him back on the show Thursday night when he could talk with Joe Scarborough who, he said, would probably be kinder. Miller didn't answer yes or no. |
Now, that does not sound at all accurate as to what occurred. It slimes Senator Miller, while covering for Mathews. |

I just have one complaint about the Marines. One of my best friends is one, and thanks to him, I now say "Sir, yes sir" instead of "Aye, aye sir!"
I'm still trying to figure out how he did that to me.......

I didn't see the Miller/Mathews mixup, but I watched a little bit of the aftermath and that woman anchor (can't remember her name) was spinning valiantly! (And transparently!!!!) 
Okay, this is off to the geedunk in a bit so we can clean up the front page.

Zell Miller is an American Patriot and loves this country. We need to give our support to him 100 percent. Night everyone.
I loved when Zell challenged Mathews to a duel! He was ready to kick his ass. And at 72 Zell would of. He is a warrior.

Unfortunately, I didn't see it, I saw Susan Estridge calling Zell "Zig Zag Zell"...the Dems just don't get the significance of 911...they just DON'T!
On the lighter side, we have a new TV Show...SPITBALL 
And a new nickname for JFnK....SPITBALL JOHN....
Wow, whew, just breathless after that speech...it was like...
GIVE ME THAT OLD TIME RELIGION!

Imus won't be able to pass this one up, you'll see the whole Zell Miller face-down of Matthews tomorrow for sure, with plenty of short-clip replays.
MSNBC will love it because this makes for ratings...all at Matthews expense. I suspect FOX will run it too.
I never saw Matthews look so cowed and sheepish.
Anyway, that pollster guy who is often on Loudmouth's program had a focus group segment who saw the speeches. First: they liked Miller more than Cheney, and second: 11 of these 17 "undecideds" were persuaded by him to vote for Bush.
One word for Kerry: INCOMING!

OK, I cannot goto sleep. I saw dipshit Reagan Jr. on MSNBC interviewing people and I ask why the hell is this ******* that waits till his father is dead, because his views are 180 of his and he didnt have the brass to debate him while he was alive all the sudden the poster child for this network. It makes me sick and stay up for now at least.!

Damn. His dogs are named Gus and Woodrow after characters in his and my favorite movie' Lonesome Dove'. It just keeps getting better....
