Sorry speech:
Still peddling the "two tours' stuff. I had longer TDYs.
Still laying it on about 'carrying shrapnel in the leg". I'ld have thought rice would have disolved by now.
Incoherent anecdotes about a lone man saluting his train in the desert (?), a boy donating $600 to his campaign with money made from the bracelets his mother made (?...MIA bracelets?).
It seems the Teamsters paid the bus fare but not for cheering. There were few happy faces in this over fed crowd.

“I have five words for Americans: This is your wake up call!”

That’s six, bonehead.

Kerry hyphenated i.e. "wake-up" as opposed to wake up.

Now the Kerry campaign can please send me 50 grand for getting him out of that one Laughing Laughing Wink

on MSNBC to Ron Reagan Jr.:

"I think John Kerry's gonna campaign every single day for the next 60 days. He is not taking a break. No vacations, he's <mumble>. He's taking that swift boat and he is taking it right at these folks and telling them the truth and getting people excited for the election."

Ladyhawke, I was wondering if he had a few stiff drinks as well. He did seem to be slurring some words a bit. Shocked Wink

Kerry started out by stating that the Red Sox had moved within 2 1/2 games of the Yankees. That surprised me as I had followed both games as a Yankee fan and I was wondering how they could have lost a game to the Red Sox when the Yankees had won their game. But like so many other things Mr. Kerry was wrong. He played up his two tours which I think brings them up for review.

Otherwise, he just gave the same old stomp speech with nothing new!

I 'm sure the parents of the high school band liked their children up so late on a school night!

It just looked like a desparate person!

You know that your campaign is in deep sh*t once Ron Jr starts to advise you on political strategies. Perhaps Ronnie is the one who organized this fiasco news media. Everything that Kerry is doing makes him looks so idiotic - I would laugh but the future of this nation is greatly at stakes...

The commentators at MSNBC didn't seem to like the speech much (which is very bad news for Kerry), and the critics at Poliblog (where I get much of my political news) was even less kind. Poliblog FWIW tends to be centrist to center-right.

excerpt from kerrys speech to be given in ohio shortly:

Quote:

(big snip of speech)
Let me tell you what I think makes someone unfit for duty. Misleading our nation into war in Iraq makes you unfit to lead this nation. Doing nothing while this nation loses millions of jobs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Letting 45 million Americans go without health care makes you unfit to lead this nation. Letting the Saudi royal family control our energy costs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Handing out billions of government contracts to Halliburton while you're still on their payroll makes you unfit. That's the record of George Bush and Dick Cheney. And it's not going to change. I believe it's time to move America in a new direction; I believe it's time to set a new course for America.
(snipped)

Let me tell you, Sen. Kerry, what I think makes someone unfit for duty.
Collaborating with an enemy that stood for everything America didn't;
using lies and distortions of a communist ideology for the spotlight it
gave you. A spotlight you could not earn but had to steal from the
soldiers you stood beside. You seem, in your arrogance, to believe
that the American people will forgive you. Well, Sen. Kerry, while I
consider myself of a higher moral character than you, I will not forgive
you because this American knows what makes someone unfit for duty.
Sen. Kerry, I don't want to go in the direction you want to take America
because I don't doubt that you will betray America and its people just
as easily as you betrayed the soldiers you stood with those many
years ago.

Kerry looked pretty ragged. John Edwards was wearing that so fake smile.

Damn if it Edwards wasn't wearing the fakest of smiles that I've seen in a long time.

I think he's finally realized where he's hitched his wagon...!

I had FoxNews on when he started yapping and then shortly after the "really not compassionate" bit I swore I heard some heckling and as soon as that happened...Greta's mug came back on and she went to something else...did anyone watching another station's coverage note any heckling????

Yeah, HIS direction...and I think we know what that is (we'll have to guess, because he doesn't seem to want to say) This is disturbing Rolling Eyes

Yeegads -- on our local news, I caught a glimpse of a long line of candles burning that said "Kerry/Edwards" -- something about "points of light" for his campaign. Guess the midnight oil is burning here in Minneapolis -- what is it that they see?? It cannot possibly be the man -- it has got to be the party....
