Did Cleland have any credibility before the Crawford letter stunt,
because he lost it all being Kerry's toady, I thought he disappeared into the woodwork.

(edited out quoted material - I'm sure the comment was innocently spoken, but it could be construed as very insensitive - removed from original message as well. EJ)

I don't care for Max at all, I think he's too angry and disillusioned, but I don't know if I'd go that far in a comment about him. Hopefully it was an innocent comment.

Cleland is ridiculous, how can he say that and then look at John Kerry? Kerry branded the entire military operation in Vietnam as torturers and mass murderers, are we to believe that didn't cause any suicides when they came home and people spit on them? Kerry still hasn't apologized or even acknowledged his betrayal. How these people can look themselves in the mirror every day is beyond comprehension.

Georgia has given us Max Cleland and Zell Miller. I don't think Max would want it put to a vote which of these two vets will influence more the outcome of this election.

It's called projection. Max can't face it. He can't face that 22 APR 1971 Fulbright Committee testimony. So - it's the other guy. The other guy's responsible. The other guy did it. The other guy is harmful.

Max has a LOT of issues. Maybe he really did pick up a grenade on his was to the PX, and he should instead have left it to expert disposal. He has a lot of issues. But he can't deal with them by blaming others.

Has anyone heard anything about this? Any background data on where Cleland is getting his information?

What a sad and pathetic comment by Cleland! I’ve lost all respect for the man.

I suppose he thinks it was an uplifting experience for us to receive the crude “Welcome Home” that many of us received.

I suppose he thinks that it was a positive to learn that your service and sacrifice had been disparaged and cheapened.

I suppose he thinks that facing accusations of being drug-crazed, baby-killers and war criminals were good for our mental health.

The actions that the Swiftees have taken to finally set the record straight has done more good for my psyche than anything else in a long, long time.

It is really sad that Cleland has decided to align himself with those who were responsible for all the damage inflicted on vets through these many years.

Maybe it's the VVAW "veterans" that are having problems.

Everyone,

I think it is a lot simplier than all of that. I think that Mr. Cleland is so caught up in his bitterness about losing his senate seat that he can no longer think rationally. It happens.
