In 1991, the NY Times published an article entitled "The Vietnam Generation Surrenders Its Certainty". The article discussed the issues of the war and the anti-war movement, so naturally John Kerry was interviewed. The Times reported Kerry's take on the lessons learned thus Quote: | "This generation shares an extraordinary honesty about the issue of going to war," said Senator John F. Kerry, a Massachusetts Democrat who was a gunboat commander on the Mekong River and helped organize Vietnam Veterans Against the War. "We have a deep-rooted commitment that if we go to war it be for real reasons and then that we try to get it over with as supportively and as quickly as possible." | Then, in a section titled "A Legacy of Sensitivity", the Times quotes Kerry again. Quote: | The primary legacy of the last war seems to be a sensitivity to the troops in the gulf and a concern that any protest at home could leave them feeling scorned, as so many Vietnam-era veterans did. Virtually all the veterans interviewed recalled, as Senator Kerry put it, "the miserable memory of the way people confused the warrior and the war." | There you have it. Kerry is haunted by the same "miserable memory of the way people confused the warrior and the war" that many vets are.
So ease up on the guy, OK? He's been hurt by the criticism as well.....even though he was the author of that confusion.
I'm certain he feels our pain. _________________ antimedia

After accidentally stumbling upon their website, I had to write Mother Jones a letter regarding their Iraq/WOT coverage clear liberal leanings:
What a bunch of dated, faded losers. The protesters at the RNC were good for about 5 points in Bush's favor.
This is what the Democratic party has come to - liberals, discredited anti-war fools, brainwashed college kids (who really just want to *** **** by the that cute anarchist), and PC, moral equivalence nimrods. Americans will let you spew your vitriolic venom, defile our national symbols, excercise any amount of bestial, rude, crass behavior, and even roll their eyes at liberal attempts to subvert our laws and majority opinions.
But we will NOT let you take control of this wonderful country, not anymore. We will no longer sit by as liberals attempt to repeat their anti-war Vietnam infamy in Iraq. Iraqi men, women, and children (not to mention our sons/daughters) are dying in Iraq due to anti-war treason like Mother Jones' and your boy's, Kerry. THE TIME TO PROTEST WAR IS BEFORE IT STARTS, NEVER AFTER IT STARTS!!! General Giap of the North Vietnamese Army said that after the Tet offensive NV was prepared to sure for armistice. What kept them in the fight were the efforts of Hanoi John and Jane, Ramsey Clark, and all the ignoramuses who joined in and promoted the anti-war fad. They even have a monument to John Kerry specifically in one of their museums, 'a true NVA hero'. It's probably around the corner from the Hanoi Hilton, where the American heros were billeted.
The terrorists in Iraq feel the same way - the media ensures that they see plenty of dissent about the war - rags like your magazine are a big contributor to the deaths of our fine American soldiers. Your magazine disgusts me, it is an American disgrace. I happened upon a link to the article above, otherwise I would never foul my browser with your URL.
Anti-war idiocy is also why Kerry is going to lose this election (in addition to his lifetime of lying, waffling, and betraying) - Americans no longer believe the liberal media and anti-war morons, that protesting war is moral. Protesting war cost this country thousands of lives during the Vietnam war, and MILLIONS after it. It is costing us our boys in Iraq right now. It's just that liberals are too uneducated and self-centered to see it. Liberals hould have spent more time in History class instead of 'Gender-Neutral Communications 101'...
Watch as your socialist agenda now disintegrates. Americans hating America is once again becoming the treason it should be despite your cheerleading.

Exactly! What these anti-war protestors seem to not get is that whenever we decided to leave Vietnam the war was over. The current war was brought to our home turf and the instigators are vowing to do LOTS more damage. Even a simpleton should be able to see that taking it to the enemy is the ONLY option. _________________ Never Ever Give Up

I just finished reading John Kerry's book, The New Soldier, written in
1971. Your comments sure highlight how devistating his testimony was.
Wonderful points, and yes, it continues to this day.
P.S. That Kerry book can be downloaded for free here:www.freekerrybook.com

This guy is seriously sick. This was published in the Boston Globe in 1996, discussing the race for the Senate seat between William Weld and John Kerry. Look what Kerry had to say. Quote: | Kerry, decorated for heroism in Vietnam, angrily blasted the governor for downplaying his work on the issue as a senator. Kerry said that by advocating for the families of missing servicemen and by helping to normalize relations with Vietnam, he has helped to heal a festering wound in the American psyche.
"Bill Weld tends to forget, because he didn't serve in Vietnam, that our generation was scarred by that war, and that all our politics are impacted by it," said Kerry, who led antiwar protests after his return home. "I am very proud that I helped bring to a close that toughest chapter in America."
| He actually believes he has helped heal the wounds of Vietnam. The jerk is the one who inflicted them fer cryin' out loud! Quote: | If Bill Weld had any military experience whatsoever, he'd understand how ridiculous that is," Kerry said, even though Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole and other prominent veterans support the expansion of NATO.
Weld, who was at Harvard Law School when Kerry was wounded in Vietnam, said the senator's war record was "a plus." But he dismissed the importance of military service to making judgments on the deployment of American soldiers. | So this jerk has been selling his "heroic" military service for at least 8 years, claiming that his four month tour in the "murky waters near Cambodia" qualifies him to lead.
No wonder the Swiftees were so pissed when they read Tour of Duty! _________________ antimedia

I think I'm beginning to believe he really is "The Manchurian Candidate".
(Just remember Weld was a popular governor and was leading Kerry until that debate when Kerry opened up a ten pt. lead.) |
