Great first night. I have to hand it to those Republicans, they make me feel good about my country and myself. The Demo's convention didn't make me feel good about anything, it was a total bummer. |

oh boo to the dems.... they also said we'd better not bring up 9/11 !!! |
This was a great night!! YEAH! -- I can imagine the tantrum responses in the dem camp at what they saw, and you can predict the criticisms that we'll hear... to me, something was really different about the republican character expressed at the convention right from the very beginning, as opposed to the dem convention: all the signs "We Salute Our Troops." I was reminded of the respect and love for our military in the republ. camp because they are aware that without defense, without those willing to fight and risk their lives, there would BE NO FREE COUNTRY within which some of those dems could sit in their senate seats and preach for hours on end about how very guilty this country is in the eyes of the world for every wrong committed past, present and future.
I don't recall at the dem convention anything but signs for each of their people and the big theater about kerry's heroism. All about kerry. And Teresa, all about Teresa with her reminder to us how int'l she is... how well she can speak to foreigners... But where was love for THIS country? Maybe I missed it, maybe it was there and I didn't notice? With the dems I came away with a sense that in their hands, America would fade into history -- in fact, that she SHOULD fade into history.... (I am NOT expressing this well..) Let's just say, I feel they want a weaker country that follows the will of others on this planet....
The SBVFT campaign has definitely affected this entire election. The tenacity of sticking to the truth no matter what. The demand that truth be told and liars and frauds exposed. It's shaken up the "comfort" the media has in their current structure of being merely organs of their personal politics. They (and the dems) are fighting to settle back to the "way things were" and to regain their control over the news -- just as another post here stated, it seems the dems would also like to settle back to a world pre-9/11 and "let's not think about any war."
When you think about the things the dems have said the republs can NOT do -- beginning with Bush's ad in which he had some firefighters and images of 9/11 and how they screamed that "hey, you can't USE that." And I thought, they aren't "using" "that image" -- they are remembering "that event" which is an integral part of the presidency of GWB, and oh, excuse us for pointing out that we were attacked and we are at war. It made me mad that the ad was pulled.
Then the SBVFT came out - and "you can't do that!" Then the book came out "you can't do that" -- GWB lands on a carrier to welcome troops home "you can't do that" -- right up to tonight with McAuliffe and the purple bandaids - "you can't do that" ---- and the delegate clutching "Unfit For Command" (yeah!!) -- "you definitely cannot do THAT"....
Now, tomorrow we'll be hearing -- the republ convention "used" 9/11, they "used" patriotism, they "used" Iraq, they "used" our military.... When you think about it, the things the dems seem most adverse to the populace seeing and/or talking about, are things that define America. Things about our character. Things that are important to us and to our nation. And especially facing the reality of this post-9/11 world where we must be leaders and not followers. I've been upset with the republicans for giving in to the dem bullying and being afraid to support the Swiftees and being afraid to talk about 9/11 and being afraid to show their true colors and true beliefs because of the dem backlash.
And it's the threat of the "backlash" that has silenced many. Then John O'Neill and the Swiftees came forward with their unmovable dedication to fight for truth and honor and basically said, lash out at us all you want, scream all you want, keep on lying and threatening, jump up and down -- we're moving forward and we are not going to stop. A beacon of courage -- the best in us -- unwavering leadership and an influence that is making its mark in a big way.
Tonight, there was a new confidence, at least it was new to me -- all of the tributes, the speeches were right on, image "taboos" were smashed, and there was a strength in the members of the party as they expressed their great love of country -- contrasting with the weak & self-serving & posturing dem convention.
And this is only day one!.... Contrary to all the dem rhetoric about them "taking America back" -- excuse me, but WE are taking America back. It is an honor to serve with the SBVFT!! |

The former mayor did an incredible job, the effort to show people that we have an important mission ahead and to continue to respect our brave everywhere in the world with his great delivery made me proud. I know I feel like I haven't sacrificed enough yet after hearing him, and I've seen the enemy he speaks of first hand and he's absolutely right. Thank you to all who fight for truth and freedom, from Camp Anaconda to our homeland. I'm still with ya boys!!!!! _________________ NEVER RELENT WHEN THE ENEMY IS ON THE RUN!

I have to agree. My husband and I were flipping the channels (you know, that remote control thing) and we saw most of McCain's speech, and about 3/4 of Guiliani's speech. Wow, Guiliani's speech was so powerful - I felt caught up as if I was there. He made very good points. Now, I have to admit I didn't tune in to watch the Democrat Convention, even though I'm a registered Democrat because I knew it would be same old-same old. I can't wait to see the speeches tonite. And Zell Miller's speech should be interesting. |

After the excellent 9-11 family members speeches, and the really firey Giuliani and McCain speeches, I can't wait till tonight! The Iraqi woman I think was really excellent too. I wish that would have gotten nationwide coverage. That would put the anti-Iraq war people in a very difficult moral position. Because by definition, they support the position of supporting the systematic enslavement, torture, rape, and murder of over 25 million people. The things they accuse our military of doing in Iraq, they would have rather continued going on on a massive level by the people that we stopped from doing it. Being an anti-war liberal is really an impossible illogical position. |

After thinking about all last night and this morning, I am now extremely confident that kerry will lose. There are several major points why.
1: Bush will overwhelmingly get all the people to vote for him in two months, that he got in 2000, plus 300,000+ FL Panhandle voters who will definitely vote for Bush and not go home early because the media incorrectly called the state for gore, before the Central time zone Panhandle closed.
2: The military vets of Vietnam, in addition to other wars, and the current military personnel, will vote for Bush in even greater numbers in two months than in 2000, because there is such a resentment and disgust in the past and present military community for john kerry. A massive majority of those will vote for Bush to insure that kerry is defeated.
3: 9-11 and the war on Terrorism will have a major effect and there is no reason to accurately believe that kerry could be a better leader than Bush.
4: SBVT have asked MANY questions that kerry has refused to answer, and those have gotten out all over the place, and voters now KNOW the true john kerry.
5: The tenor of the conventions is a stark contrast. It is obvious after just last night that the Republican convention will have a much more positive impact for Bush than the dem convention did for kerry. There was more substance in the speeches last night, than there were in all the speeches at the dem convention put together.
6: I believe the debates will definitely go Bush's way. kerry is a fraud, and is so impersonal and arrogant and lacking of any kind of charisma, and those are the things that you NEVER want to see in a debater. Even with the three liberal debate moderators, it seems very unlikely that kerry will win.
7: The POWs will come out soon, and when they do, that will be a blow that, in concert with the unrelenting hits from SBVT, that kerry will not be able to recover from. And there are enough rational American people planning to vote for kerry that will not be able to do that when they see POWs coming out flatly detailing how their torture was worse because of john kerry's words against them.
8: These protesters are going to drive some independent / moderate kerry voters from him. Hundreds or thousands, that's all it will take in swing states to make them red states. The protesters have been naked in the streets, setting fires, assaulting people coming from Broadway plays, carrying signs comparing the President's name to female genitalia, a naked picture of President Bush next to a naked picture of Jesus Christ, and more. THAT is the face of the radical extremists who are protesting the Rep convention. And that will drive enough moderates away from kerry that it will cost him some States. If it costs him just ONE state. It's huge.
9: The radical anti-war people do not like kerry either. He's made it clear that he will not totally pull out of the war on terror, because even in his convoluted hypocritical self-serving arrogant mind, he knows he can't, and that wont' cut it with the radical anarchists, socialists, and hippie radicals. They'll either vote for Nader or some fringe socialist candidate with a criminal record like larouche, or not vote at all. Bush doesn't have that problem, since I believe I remember hearing that over 87% of Republicans from all over the spectrum are CLEARLY behind Bush. kerry doesn't even have half that many.
These are the major points that I believe will swing the election and make it not near as close as it seems now. |

That's why I said confident but not positive. There are never any absolutes. Something horrible could happen in Afghanistan or Iraq. The economy could somehow take some sudden unforseen fall. Bush, though it would be a major departure from character, could do something to hurt his re-election. kerry could even use some of his allowence from sugar-momma two, and go rent some used charisma and half a personality, and have enough left over to get some new one liners. Anything could happen, but I think those nine points I made are really something to think about as major points that show it's not as close as it now appears. Every national poll in the country now shows Bush ahead of kerry, and Ohio and Pennsylvania are now going for Bush. Just a month ago they were kerry states. The momentum has shifted and it started, thanks to SBVT and also amazingly thanks to the democrat convention. It's like people actually got to see him and what he's like and what he has always been like thanks to SBVT, and a lot of people had a nerve jerk realization that they were about to make a mistake, and ran for the hills.
I also think the reaction to both Bush's and kerry's daughters is an instance that you can look at. Bush's girls get applauded with very little booing. kerry's trampy little spoiled hussies come out, condescend to the crowd, and then get heavily booed, and then "shhh" them to get them quiet. That crowd shoudl be so in the pocket of kerry, there's no way that should have happened. That's striking and I really think deserves a HUGE eyebrow raise. It's just my opinion, but after reading all the news, and seeing the evidence to back it up, I definitely feel a lot more confident now than six weeks ago. That's why I say that I am extremely confident now that kerry will lose. Based on things right now, today. I have a feeling that the rest of this week at the conventoin will only add to that. The people who will be speaking are being themselves, and that can only serve to help them, given who they are, and who the real majority heart of the American people are. They're both two shoes in the same pair. |

Another thing I found interesting about the differences in the signs is that so many were home made, not mass produced and handed out.

Rudy was the best last night. He was a great prosecutor, a great mayor and someday soon I hope, he'll be a great president!
I usually don't care for McCain but he did a good job last night in explaining why we are in Iraq - I thought he was effective.
However, no one's mentioned Angie Harmon and Jason Sehorn(sp?). It was great seeing them up there and hearing them enthusiastically endorse Bush and lend their support to the military. Let's see, the dems have Jeanne Garawfulo and we've got Angie! That alone should win it for Bush. |

I have been told that due to "standard" election rules that absentee ballots are not necessarily counted. The hundreds of thousands of missing absentee ballots (many of which were active military personell) were never counted in 2000. Therefor, it is possible the G W actually won the popular vote in 2000.
How can we make sure that EVERY absentee vote is counted in the 2004 election?
Mc Cain's dig on Michael Moore was outstanding...in fact he said it twice. while the fat digusting pig looked on.... |

Some groups did use the final state totals to show that Bush did indeed win the popular vote. I looked up some myself and generally the results on the reports were in fact less for Bush than the later totals I saw. I did not go through all fifty states and verify the count so I can't say the groups are correct, but Bush definately did better than the official count used for the electoral college. Generally if the vote difference is greater than the number of absentee ballots the official number is given before the absentee ballots are counted becasue they would not change the outcome in the electoral college. |

My original post,
Quote: | Giuliani gave the speech of his life and was a go for broke speech. He basically gave everything he had to Bush and in my opinion was honest and to the country. McCain came off ok as a first act and did his duty but his days as a political possibility are over and I could hear it in his play. The 3 - 9/11 family survivors brought tears to my eyes. Unreal first night. Bush by 10 points after thursday night. |
TIME Poll: Among likely voters, 52% would vote for President George Bush, while 41% would vote for John Kerry and 3% would vote for Ralph Nader
http://www.time.com/time/press_releases/article/0,8599,692562,00.html
I got it right 10 points within margin of error. Just had to toot my horn. _________________ "An activist is the person who cleans up the water, not the one claiming its dirty."
