Port Sulphur (as opposed to Sulphur, which is west of Lake Charles, and where I grew up)...

Then it is PORT SULPHUR, LA which is south of New Orleans.

I used to work all over that area but offshore so I was always just "passing through" and now it's been (another) 20 years. Gosh.

Does anyone know what Rassmann's true duties were, to clear this up, and why was he with Kerry on a Swift Boat?

This may have been linked before but if not here it is:

http://www.vnsfvetakerry.com/jim_rassmann.htm

It's not my intent to dig up dirt but since I became a Swiftee auxiliary (aka tug boat) I've been suspicious of Kerry's primary Vietnam support group. Particularly, I've become more and more suspicious of Mr. Rassmann's motives. Since this whole effort seems to be about character, integrity, honor, duty, country, etc., I believe Kerry's support group, particularly if they speak out, are fair game. In addition to those who now speak out against Rassmann, I have a question for him. If he's so grateful for being saved in such an heroic manner and truly reveres Kerry, where was he in 1970-71? Additionally, why did he wait until 1984 (allegedly) and 2004 to force himself on the Kerry camp?

Caveat: I speak for no one but myself.

I believe that in GENERALY the Swiftvets policy is to avoid any personal attacks on the integrity or honor of Kerry's "campaign crew".

But, items of FACT are fair game -- e.g., comparison of Rassmann's various versions of the Bronze Star story, and compairion of his claim that Kerry's arm was wounded when it's clear the wound was to Kerry's BUTT from earlier in the day: another time, place, and body part.

Here somewhere there are various threads about Rassmann's changing stories; you might want to search for those in THIS Forum and the Resource and Research area.

Recounting Sanduskey's (Kerry's pilot that day) outing of Kerry's longtime lie when he (Sanduskey) explained WHY Kerry's boat was the only one to leave and return while the others were rescuing the 3-boat and those in the water.

Also note, that in some sense the Swiftees really just want to tell the factual truth about Kerry as well -- but there they are more likely to add their CONCLUSIONS about Kerry based on those facts and don't necessarily feel that doing the same about Rassmann is either good style or good tactics once the FACTS are stated.

Please don't misunderstand me -- or, I apologize if I wasn't clear.

Truth about Rassmann is clearly fair game -- attacking him JUST to get Kerry is across the line.

No need to be PC, just be factual and I doubt anyone will complain.

(I read the first charge about Rassmann leaving the LAPD and if true it is devastating but if it is just along the lines of gossip and rumor then it would not be -- I don't know yet, but posting the link for the curious like me seems fine.)

At http://www.politicsus.com/011704fjk.htm the story about Rassman appears to be told by a reporter, not by Rassman himself, so I don't think this is any evidence against him.

Thanks again Herb. I'm kinda old, crochety and pretty emotional about this subject, but I always try to follow the rules. I'll be very careful when using Rassmann's name and do my best to include facts only or, from time to time, provide a link to other media. When I include a link, I'll include a disclaimer.

Regardless, I absolutely believe the Purple Heart awarded March 13 to Rassmann is inextricably linked to Kerry's medals. The primary reason I'm interested is that I've seen nothing that indicates he was injured and nothing about medical treatment. If it's proven that he was injured and treated (not for rice shot), given that the mine under the 3 Boat may be considered hostile action, I'll be satisfied. I hope this is OK.

He did stress that many veterans were "angry" about Kerry's antiwar activities, that this could seriously hurt Kerry in the polls.

Anti-war activities? That is a very mild way to describe treason.

The proof of Kerry's conscious prior knowledge of the effect of his words is in "Tour of Duty" pp. 117-124.

In "Tour of Duty" (pp. 117-124) Kerry's attendance at SERE (survival, evasion, resistance, and escape) training is recounted.

At SERE training Kerry was taught (and remembers 35 years later) that even COUNTING PUSH-UPS was dangerous.

Why? Because the enemy would tape record the counting -- then cut the tape to produce exchanges such as "How many people did your men massacre?" "ten-twelve"....

Kerry KNEW that anything he said could be cut this way and played in POW camps in Hanoi.

It was not just an accident that his words were used in the POW camps, Kerry had CONSCIOUS PRIOR KNOWLEDGE of how the lies he offered the Senate committee could and would be used.

KERRY KNEW!!!!

Because of what Herb said, I won't post why I think Rassman and the others are supporting John Heinz Kerry.

There sure has to be someone else anti Kerry in the LAPD who would know the true scoop on why Rassman left there... the closest I can get is a detective in the high desert. He does some training down in LA sometimes and might have some buddies there.... but surely there is someone on the forum who is closer.

Folks...the thread drift here is immense...anyone remember the origonal topic (no fair peeking)?

With tomorrow's Sunday morning shows a few scant hours away, i'm going to lock this thread shortly and send it south. If there is a point in this thread where you'd like to split off a second line of discussion, speak up now and I'll try to accomodate.

Thanks

I put this thread in last week to respond to last Sundays news. It has been kinda fun watching it evolve, However I agree it needs to go away.
