The damage report for the 94 boat is the damage report for the 94 boat. There's nothing to refute that, and the damage is not consistent with a mine explosion like the one the 3 boat experienced. Kerry reveals in ToD that his windows were blown out the previous day. Read the report.
We don't have the damage report for the 3 boat. _________________ antimedia

Cause nobody can find it, or they do have it and don't want to share the knowledge on a public forum. I'm not sure which, but if it's the second state, I would understand why. |

Just had a little thought about the damage to Kerry's boat. If he was so close to the right bank and after the mine went off on the 3 boat his boat took off at full speed and then turned sharply to the right dumping Rassman in the water, could he have run the boat ashore running over some shoreline debris which could have caused the underwater damage? |

Myers: Do you think John Kerry deserved a Purple Heart for that work?
Zaladonis: Well, I’ll tell you, if I'd have been hurt that night, I’d have probably thought I'd deserved one too. I'm sure he deserved it. I'm sure he deserved it…
Myers: How badly [was] John Kerry injured that night?
Zaladonis: I don't know how badly he was injured. I knew it wasn't life- threatening. And I know that when we got back to the swift boat he went to the pilothouse and I went to the fantail. Myself and Runyon went back to the fantail and we both smoked back then so we went back there and smoked. And we were talking to the swift boat crew. And it was dark, so we really couldn't see. We weren't turning on any lights. So, I'm not sure exactly how bad it was – I knew it was not life-threatening, though, and I knew he wasn't going to lose his arm or anything like that.

Exactly what were they smoking

Just an observation: Kerry’s “wound” for this incident has been described as a piece of shrapnel. That would have almost certainly come from a grenade, an RPG, or a mortar round. In either case Zaladonis couldn’t very well have been ignorant of such fire had it occurred. A mortar round would suggest that such a weapon had been pre-positioned. Not likely! An RPG fired at night is all but impossible to ignore. And a hand grenade would suggest a very close engagement.
Also Zaladonis suggest that Kerry was “wounded” while he was bent over picking up the M-79. Wouldn’t that place Kerry’s wounded elbow fairly low in the Whaler at that moment? And what damage did the Whaler itself sustain? _________________ Served with US Army in Americal Division 2/69 to 9/70. |

Kerry himself admits in ToD that the shrapnell in his "ass" came from a hand grenade that he threw in to a pile of rice earlier that day. It did not come from the mine explosion or the supposed enemy fire. _________________ antimedia

I think you're talking about the third, (3/13/69), incident. Perhaps I'm wrong but my understanding is that Zaladonis was referring to the first PH that occurred in 12/2/68.
Zaladonis states, and I paraphrase, that he wasn't sure whether they had received hostile fire or not.
But he also states that it was one of the "scariest" nights of his life. Either Zaladonis had an awfully peaceful time in VN or his memory is selective.
Also Zaladonis states, and I again I paraphrase, that this was the first mission of this type for the only three members onboard that night. As per Zaladonis that would be Kerry, Zaladonis, and Runyon. Was it typical for the Navy to put three inexperienced guys alone together on a mission of this type? _________________ Served with US Army in Americal Division 2/69 to 9/70. |

I may be mistaken but was'nt Zaladonis referring to Kerry's first wound from I believe the 2 Dec 68 incident when he fired the m-79 and it hit a rock and Kerry was hit by a small piece them came back at them. The A** wound with the rice came the day he pulled Rassman out of the water.

Somewhere, on some blog, some astute person pointed out that Zaldonis emphasizes that this was the first and only skimmer mission he went on. And, further, that it was first and only one for Kerry and Runyon as well! This is contrary to common sense. Three people who have no experience in this type of mission? How would they know what to do or where to go? The scenario looks unlikely even without comparing it to Adm. Schachte's detailed account. |

Just noticed debewley asked earlier about whether the Navy would have sent out three inexperienced guys. According to Schachte's account, they definitely would not have. But this evidently made no impression on the NBC interviewer. |

The quality of journalism today is poor. Often the only differenece between journalists and prostitutes is that prostitutes understand what type of business they are in. _________________ "That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoe making and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poor house."

Lisa meyers and Schachte interview..
Quote: |
Schachte's says:
The boats were manned by two officers and one enlisted person. Officers because officers were briefed daily. We had daily intelligence briefings seven days a week, with the latest intelligence from the area. Or in the patrolling boat – officers would come back and debrief their area. So, the officers had a good feel for everything that was going in our area of operation and our sectors.
The enlisted person operated the motor. Now, this was my idea. And I went on each one of these – in command of each one that we did up to and including the night with Lieutenant Junior Grade Kerry.
I did that because it was my idea and people volunteered for this. And I didn't think it was right having one of these operations and being on a swift boat or back at Operations Center or something like that.
Myers: Because you thought it was a dangerous operation?
Schachte: Yes, and I had to be a part of it. It was my idea. The night in question, we-- as always, the swift boat would tow the skimmer out to the designated area. And we would board the skimmer. This night our call sign was ‘Batman.’ I got into the boat. My weapon was forward – the M-60 machine gun. John got in the boat. I don't remember who the enlisted person was. We then proceeded to the designated area. |
Schachte's explanation is far more exceptable...
Zaladonis= Too many, "I don't know's" When are these guys going to learn that," If you don't lie, you don't have anything to remember."
