The date on that article is May 9, 2004.

Edited to add:

I apologize for my confusion. When I saw the date I thought the article was several months old so, I didn't read it. Embarassed

You are right it is from May. I did not realize that when I posted the link. I guess what we should be emailing the Pentagon now is, is the investigation ongoing and will there be results anytime soon.

It's confusing when people use the numbers instead of the wording for dates.... It's actually dated Sept. 5, 2004. Some people (like me) always put the month first then the date then the year(9/5/04), but others (such as military or Europeans) put the date then the month then the year(5/9/04). The article mentions the Republican Convention & the 11 point lead by Bush, confirming the date.

On that note.... WOOOHOOOOOOO Pandora's box has been opened, and the demons coming out are the ones that kerry made for himself at the expense of many honorable veterans.

Another confirmation on the date... Judicial Watch did not even make the request to investigate until Aug 18 2004 Cool

Even if the Navy finds problems, it is unlikely they would publicize it or do anything about it before the election.

I don't look for anything but a whitewash i.e an inability to find any facts to overturn any of the awards.

It would take tremendous moral courage and certainty to overturn any of Kerry's awards even with hard evidence.

I doubt anyone involved will have that kind of courage.

Think about this...Would President Bush allow it?

Thanks for the link, I'm sure it has been forwarded to the major TV news desks. To me, if true, a Naval investigation will add credibility to the charges, and will mean to the average citizen, if the Navy is investigating their must be something there. It can only hurt Kerry if brought to the national media.

I first assumed this was just a repetition of the earlier Judicial Watch/Newsmax story, but it's not. There is major news in this article, it appears the Telegraph actually picked up the phone:

1) A Navy-internal quote: "Another [Navy] official said privately: "There's a feeling that it's time to deal with this thoroughly, once and for all.""

2) New comments from former NAVSEC Lehman: "On Friday, Mr Lehman endorsed the investigation of Mr Kerry's awards, saying that the relevant navy records needed to be "thoroughly researched and the facts established".

3) Angry response from Kerry campaign (Meehan)

This has escalated in the last 2 weeks from Judicial Watch requesting action (no big deal, they make lots of requests), to an Inspector General notifying DoD they will investigate (interesting, but could mean 2 weeks or 2 years), to actual confirmation of a Navy investigation, given further credence by Meehan's angry retort. This is huge news!!!

I agree with kaji.

It would be nice if the investigation would be completed and kerry exposed prior to the election. However, I think that news of an investigation itself will lend some powerful credibility to the charges of the SBVT.

This is one of the USA sources.

Judicial Watch started the process.

as I said earlier, at most they might mildly slap him on the hand over the combat V, I doubt they'll even touch the purple hearts.

also, civilian question here but the Campaign Medal (i think) it said he had four clusters, shouldn't htere only be one, possibly two.

and would the Gridley deployment qualify for one the same way that a true 12 mo. tour would?

That this is news, if the U.S. media makes it news, keeps it news, is a pretty tough body blow for Kerry.
