I read the article mentioned above and am wondering who this THOMAS VALLELY is. He is mentioned as being part of Kerry's DOG HUNTER gang. Information would be helpful, are these people going to mean trouble or is it just alot of talk. Seems they were helpful to him in his past election.

Scraps from the web on Thomas Vallely:

Quote:
September 18, 1972 -- John Kerry's brother Cameron and
Vietnam veteran Thomas Vallely are arrested in Lowell, Massachusetts in the basement of a building that houses both Kerry's campaign headquarters and those of opposing candidate Tony DiFruscia. Cameron Kerry and Vallely are
charged with breaking and entering with the intent to commit larceny. Kerry will win the Democratic nomination for a Massachusetts congressional seat the next day, but lose in the general election to Republican Paul Cronin. Thomas Vallely will later become director of the Vietnam Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

Quote:
The BOSTON GLOBE reported in 1996 that the Kerry home movies "reveal something indelible about the man who shot them - the tall, thin, handsome Naval officer seen striding through the reeds in flak jacket and helmet, holding aloft the captured B-40 rocket. The young man so unconscious of risk in the heat of battle, yet so focused on his future ambitions that he would reenact the moment for film. It is as if he had cast himself in the sequel to the experience of his hero, John F. Kennedy, on the PT-109."

"John was thinking Camelot when he shot that film, absolutely," says Thomas Vallely, a fellow veteran and one of Kerry's closest political advisers and friends.

Quote:
"Fear of the future and lack of confidence holds them back," said Thomas Vallely, the director of the Vietnam program at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, during a recent visit here. "Vietnam can become a modern economy, because they have the money and the knowledge. Even given the failed education system, they could get out-sourcing business like India has, but they have to allow it."

Note: Isn't it fascinating that one of Kerry's closest lifelong buddies is now actively encouraging Vietnam as a country to which American companies can now "outsource" jobs ala India. This, in itself, has the potential to become a HUGE Scandal. You can read more for yourself at this site:

http://www.asianlabour.org/archives/000913.php

It seems that John F. Kerry and his cronies have managed to capitalize on the Vietnam isue more than any other group in the world. This scandal makes Halliburton look like chump change.

The "mostly baseless charges on his valor"

They still don't get it. Or they do, and they're just liars.

You can bring out as many assassins as you want but the truth will not go away. The charges of the Swift Boat Vets are not baseless. They've stuck because the facts back them up.

I do not know a single charge of the Swift Vets that has been found baseless. Not a single one. I defy anyone to name a baseless charge.

As long as they continue to refuse dealing with this as a reality, the stories and the discussions will continue. Kerry will not bellyache or mudsling his way back into this.

As a woman, this is my take on Cahill. Most women have not served, nor do they know anyone who has, or nor have they had much contact with the military. They do not know the character of men who have served.

To most liberal women, the military and the "men" in the military are viewed as neanderthals grunting "me go kill." The military, and the men who serve are viewed as irrelevant in their mentality of just holding hands, lighting candles and all getting along. They eye the military budget with envy and think of all the social programs they could create with that money. They give no thought to the security of this nation or the world because their socialist rhetoric does not believe in the existence of tyranny or evil. To them the military is the evil that keeps them from inacting their agendas.

They misunderstand the world. They do not comprehend the need for a strong military or, most importantly, they do not understand the essential nature of the men and women who do serve.

Ms. Cahill does not understand the serviceman's character of sacrifice and integrity and honor. Ms. Cahill does not understand the minds of the veterans insulted by John Kerry. She only knows men like John Kerry and mistakenly thinks all military men are just as shallow. She does not understand that men exist who answer to higher calls then self-promotion, and self-interest.

Of course she thought it would all blow over -- she does not understand the pride of service. Ms. Cahill also does not understand that those of us who did not serve also have enormous amounts of pride in those who have and do. We are in awe of the individuals who would sacrifice themselves for our security and for the protect of the ideals of our nation.

No Ms. Cahill, the Swift Boat Vets mission for truth will not blow over. Finally, the wounds of Vietnam inflicted by your candidate will be addressed. And Ms. Cahill those who are proud of and rely upon our strong military will not easily dismiss the challenges of this group of honorable men.

It’s amazing you’d bring up the Doghunters, Mr. Hurley is apparently the Big Dog of the pack, he was just doing his regular job of smearing Kerry’s opponent, this time President Bush. Amazing that none of the press has investigated Mr. Hurley’s previous actions in the VVAW, where Kerry met Hurley back in 1970. Hurley and his Doghunters have helped Kerry win a couple of elections. Kerry had planned on Veterans support for this election, in fact it was crucial. He has a web site were he specifically talks about a “Million Veterans for Kerry” initiative beginning shortly after he won the primaries. The Swiftvets blew the hell out of that plan.

A site from one of his ex:Doghunters:

From Kerry’s Supporters:

This is a clip of Kerry’s crocodile tears when he “reunites” with Rassman for the first time since he saved Rassman’s life. This little reunion helped Kerry win the Iowa caucus, or so they say. This link will get you to the press release, look under Multimedia, click on Video for the “Reunion”. I don’t buy that Rassman just happened to show up after all these years,
it was pure hype.

My favorite passage from this piece:

Quote:
"I think he's a lot better when he's behind......."

Oh!--Most definitely!!--The farther behind, the better--

I shall most fervently pray that John Kerry is at his absolute best on 2 November--C

The thing is they threw everything including the kitchen sink at Bush and its made some dents but like the energizer bunny he keeps going. Now that Bush has a big bounce, what would beat that lead? the debates might hurt Bush but IMO they will only solidify his base and Kerry would only alienate a large portion of his own base.

I completely disagree with this statement. Bush will TROUNCE John Kerry in the debates. Chuck, you are misunderestimating "W". Remember back when the Republicans feared that Al Gore would cream Bush in the debates?... the exact opposite happened! Bush is a superb debater. In addition, comparing this years debates with the debates four years ago, GW is far more knowlegeable and confidant now, plus, Kerry will be an inferior debater to Gore. I look forward to the debates as yet another huge bounce for Bush. Count on it!

This was a beautifully written and brilliant, biting analysis, ja, particularly the section quoted above.

I have a slightly different take although I agree with you in general. It is so obvious a point it is easily overlooked.

Kerry did what he does best with Ms. Cahill. He lied through his teeth to her. He told Cahill there was no merit to the SBVT's charges. He put her out front to mouth his lies. And when this didn't work, he planted this story to make Ms. Cahill take the fall for him. Cahill believed Kerry to the bitter end.

I don't know if Kerry is a pathological liar due to, as has been suggested, mental illness, wealth-induced hubris, or a basically dishonest character. We all know he lies, and it only makes sense he lied to Cahill and others who, as you suggested, have no concept of honor. Also in character with Kerry's grandiosity, the planted story paints him as someone who knew exactly what to do but was stopped by lesser mortals.

Ms. Cahill is just another in a long line of victims of Kerry's lies.

On this one point, I do agree with Kerry: his staff let him down in a big way. He should be furious with Cahill et al.

This appeared in MSNBC -- quote from the article. It looks like Kerry is going to try to get Valley and other Vets to come to his defense:

"Valley, who is now the director of the Vietnam Program at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, has built his own mini war room with former senator and Vietnam vet Bob Kerrey, among others. Kerrey says he wants the candidate to take pride in his antiwar protests. "It took courage to do what he did in '71," says the former senator. "

Courage? Really? This is Bob Kerrey's take on Kerry's scurrilious war crimes charges in 1971. I am going to take my sign to the Kennedy School, and maybe I can flush Valley out. How can a Kerry supporter be in chage of the Vietnam program at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government? I am definitely going there with my "Kerry is Unfit to be Commander in chief" sign!!

Let's organize a protest at the Kennedy School!

That's Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely. Uncommon name, so perhaps related.
