Quote: | Dear Mr. Rather,
Regarding your "Ben Barnes" expose on President Bush
I am sick to death of your biased reporting under the guise of "truth." The only truth you know and understand is your liberal politics. I cannot tell you what to report but I can make sure that I write to every sponsor of your show repudiating you and your activity. The time has come when so-called journalists will not be allowed to use public airways as a means to accomlish your personal political goals. Your position allows you to wield too much influence to behave so reprehensibly. Your advertisers will hear from me and thousands of others as well.
America is a country of free choices and most assuredly we ca choose to boycott products and services of those companies who pay to allow you to foist your propoganda on an unsophisticated public. You make a huge mistake in thinking that the masses do not understand what you are up to and that we are unable of mounting a campaign to expose you for what you are.
It's a new day in America. |

Oh, and don't forget to cc. those e-mails to the advertising departments--Nothing like getting their sales wonks into a state of apoplexy to get their attention--
The address for CBS and CBS News is nmsadvertising@cbs.com--
The addresses for your local CBS affiliates should be on their web sites--Hit them, too--
And lastly, Viacom, which is the parent company--Here's a list of what entities come under that umbrella--
http://www.viacom.com/thefacts.tin
Hit 'em at all levels--C _________________ “I haven’t seen anyone milk this much out of a bad boat ride since Gilligan” -- Dennis Miller |

Send my e-mail to CBS and told them I would boycott all sponsors not just the 60II sponsors --- but all advertisers. |

I will be watching also to make a list. I also sent a letter to 60 minutes though it didn't mention boycotting this is what I said..
To: 60 Minutes Editors and Dan Rather
I think your making a very BIG mistake even associating with Mr. Ben Barnes let a loan broadcasting what he has to say as if it's true. You must think that we have all bumped our collective heads and forgotten about just who Mr. Barns is and just what his past is, but we haven't, and the news of his past is still out there and readily available.
Check it for yourself,

no wonder Kerry was smiling so much this a.m. .... well, that's old stuff on Bush.... and Kerry probably thinks he's shut up the swifties..... probably thinks they're afraid of carvell and pagola..... whoever .... heard this morning that those 2 weren't working for kerry now.... ha! I really believe that one! Morris said Clinton didn't even use those 2 on his re- election campaign! Bush people will tear apart Kerry speech this a.m.
That other veteran group is coming out hitting at Kerry big time....
oh yeah, I thought I saw not very many people in front of Kerry also....
was that a speech to his campaign workers? |

I disagree with the boycott of 60 minutes.
CBS News is dead in the ratings. Bush's National Guard service story has been played out over the last election. Is anyone really going to pay attention to this?
Ben Barnes is one of the top fund raising operatives in the Kerry campaign.
I just don't see how this has any legs. Heavy protests just bring the story more coverage and gives the network a reason to do another story on the protest and give more background on the subject.
Camp Kerry is looking for anything that will stick to get the spotlight off them. We need to continue to apply pressure on the main points.
1. Stop avoiding the press and answer questions to clarify your record.
2. Apologize for your conduct once you returned from Vietnam.
3. Admit the dishonor you cause your fellow veterans from the war.
4. Stop giving comfort to our current enemy in the war on terrorism. |

Ben Barnes has a large vested interest in the outcome of the 2004 election. He is a co-chairman of John F. Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign. Barnes, as CBS News reported in June 2004, has made bundled contributions of more than $500,000 to Kerry’s campaign. Barnes owns a home near his friend Kerry’s home in Nantucket on the Massachusetts shore.
Regarding the boycott - I already stopped watching their news programs with a vengeance after the Abu Gharib treason. Boycott the advertisers I shall, the almighty dollar is where it hurts the most. A full network boycott would be best, but I admit it's gonna be tough to give up CSI and Cold Case, though. |

More doubt is raised by this partisan Democrat’s motives. Barnes promoted an earlier version of his story in 1999 and 2000 in a clear attempt to damage the presidential campaign of George W. Bush. And Barnes apparently has had the same aim in reviving this story, long ago discredited by an investigation by the liberal Los Angeles Times, in 2004. As CNN reported in 1999, “the Los Angeles Times said it found no evidence that either Bush or his father, former President George Bush, had personally tried to influence or pressure anyone to get the younger Bush a place in the Texas Guard.”

Even Clinton admits it!
Quote from FrontPage Mag:
President Bill Clinton, a master at extracting donor cash in exchange for political favors, once told a group of Methodist ministers: “If you all will take a sinner like [Ben] Barnes, you might take me.” |
