I hope TeamBush is wise enough to learn from Kerry's mistakes. They should leave this story alone. Let the media sharks devour their own and the campaign itself should stay above the fray.
Responding with more than a YAWN would be a waste of time and energy for Bush and takes him off-message.
It's a complete frameup, but you can bet that CBS is never going to release or subject the original documents to independent scrutiny.
And when it's all said and done no one that hates Bush will be compeeled to vote for him nor will his supporters get new converts from this issue. The only thing that makes it interesting is that it shows the media jackals as the liberally biased jerks they are. This should be a huge story, and it probably will be - but Bush and his people need to take the high road and let 3rd parties make hay with this by proxy.

I was active duty Army 74-79 in the 82nd and we had probably had the best equipment of any front-line unit at the time. All of my orders are mono-spaced from typewriters.
These have to be fakes _________________ I hope you don't mind an Army vet on your website. Former NCO in 82nd Airborne Div.

Check it all out here - concise and neatly ordered..
http://www.nationalreview.com/kerry/kerryspot.asp
apparently it's more than the "th" that doesn't add up here:
- no letterhead
- typeface unavailable at the time of alleged memo composition
- document uses proportional font
- odd letter "page" format (unusual for such documents)
another HOAX fabricated by the Far-Left Liberal Media - and they still stick to their silly claim of "no bias" - this is more than obvious !
Kerry lied (and still lies) - and Rather helps him

CBS spokesman is standing by those documents.
Amid questions raised on Internet weblogs about the authenticity of National Guard documents potentially damaging to President Bush, CBS News told WorldNetDaily it stands by its claims.
Spokeswoman Kelli Edwards said she was aware of the charge that the documents, purportedly produced in 1972 and 1973, appear to have been forged with a modern word processor.
"As is standard practice at CBS News, each of the documents broadcast on '60 Minutes' was thoroughly investigated by independent experts, and we are convinced of their authenticity," she said.
They were probably checked by Dan Blather _________________ I hope you don't mind an Army vet on your website. Former NCO in 82nd Airborne Div.

I was just listening to Byron York on Brit and Brit asked about the Jekyll and Hyde appearance of this. Why would Killian write somewhat scathing memos and two weeks apart write glowing ones. This makes it fishy. Where there is smoke there is fire. Harkin was out calling GW a liar today using these memos and he lied about his own service. I agree nothing should be spared to expose this. _________________ twicearound |

No way! They've tried that approach and all that's fired back from the Kerry side is how Bush is using dirty tactics. All the while upping the anty with their own. It's like the tattle-tale approach of kindergartener's. They put all the focus on Bush playing dirty so their own tactics go unnoticed.
I think the general population is wise to the fact that politics is inherently dirty business, especially in election years. So let 'em have it. Kerry has got to be exposed for who he is. You can't rely on naive people recognizing that Bush has taken the high road. They'll bite your ass in the end. Just look at the OJ jury!
We've got debates to deal with yet. As much as I like and admire Bush for what he stands for, and how he does it, he is not the greatest presenter in the world. No matter what great thoughts are going through his head, they don't always come out the way they're intended. Have to rely on Kerry putting everyone to sleep in the time it takes to get three words out of him. But I'm not willing to leave anything to chance. Not when the risk is having Kerry in the White House, our military reduced to a shadow, and giving him half of my salary to fund health care for the lazy who don't want to work.
Bury him and his ambulance chasing partner now, and coast to victory. Don't associate the fact that you're able to differentiate between the high and low road, with the person next to you who may not have a clue, and votes for an idiot...

www.powerlineblog.com/archives/007760.php Interesting article.
If these are fakes (I believe yes) is this another example where money is used to subvert freedom and push lies. "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely." So true............... |

Here is an article that has appeared in the Weekly Standard on the evidence suggesting CBS 60 Minutes was the victim of a hoax, regarding the memos relating to Bush's National Guard service:
