There's a question and/or comment that I haven't seen discussed yet. (Forgive me if I've merely missed it)

John Kerry was "discharged" from the Navy in 1978.

Two things;

#1 - What was John Kerry doing with the Navy for those 6-7 years, since he only spent four months in Vietnam?

#2 - How could Kerry, WHILE SERVING ON ACTIVE DUTY WITH THE NAVY, openly express such anti-war, anti-military opinions and make statements that undermined the war effort of that time?

Wouldn't that be considered treason for an active military person to make those kinds of statements while part of the military?

Doesn't the oath one takes when joining the military cover ones allegience while actively serving?

* * * *

Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

Kerry was discharged to the inactive IRR ("Ready Reserves") after his release from active duty.

Whether or not he was subject to the UCMJ during those years, at the very least, as a US Citizen, he WAS subject to the US Code, which has similar restrictions on negotiating with the enemy as a private citizen.

Only our government or its duly appointed delegates can negotiate treaties or speak for the United States in any official capacity.
