Forget writing the sponsers. Write to your local CBS station and tell them you will not be watching there chanel untill the hole 60 min 2 segment is retracted and CBS apologizes to the country for perpetrating a hoax on the American people. No viewers = no sponsers = no job.

Rather has now personally vouched for the memos. When they are proved to be forgeries, he will look for an excuse. Could this be it?

At his age, I think male menopause is more likely. Does anybody know if dementia is a symptom of male menopause.

A lawsuit would be a waste of time and money, and fall into the category of frivolous. Unfortunately, the media has some stupid constitutional right to report whatever they want, and protect their sources.

Short of a criminal act, no court can compel them to reveal their sources, even if it were Kerry himself. The only viable measure is to discredit Rather for being the buffoon he's always been, and a reckless reporter more interested in the pursuit of ratings than reporting of newsworthy events.

As much as I'd like to string him up by the b---s in a public square and flog him, I also recognize that our justice system is fast becoming a sham in itself, and a civil suit would go nowhere.

At his age, he would be through male menopause. Maybe he is going through his second childhood.

Local stations could care less if anyone threatens not to watch their channel unless they also know the sponsors are being inundated with threats of boycotts of their products. Sponsors are the only reason shows are telecast and local affiliates broadcast them. As could be seen in the Whoopi incident, if enough fear is instilled in a sponsor, they're more apt to cut their ties to the offending party. In this case, CBS...

Love it! Notice the first Rather quote here (rather appropriate): http://en.thinkexist.com/quotes/Dan_Rather/

They don't care until it starts hurting them in the wallet. You can do this two ways - organize as large a boycott of their station as possible so as to bring their ratings down, which brings down their advertising revenue.

Or appeal to their sponsors and let the stations know that you're organizing a campaign of letter-writing to the sponsors.

Short, polite, to the point letters - never auto-forwards. Just a paragraph or two of your own original writing will get a lot farther than copy and pastes.

Ask Whoopi Goldberg how well it worked.

Three days of internet activism.

There was an article in my local paper saying that my local CBS station did not run 60 Minutes II. Instead, they ran a St. Jude's infomercial, which had been scheduled at least a month ago. Some people in my town are unhappy. I'm thinking "Oh, darn!" (with an evil smirk on my face)

Something like that---that than can be used by people when they post on boards. I can't remember what you call those but there are lots on this site who have the Sink bumper sticker. It might catch on and be a way to keep the heat on CBS.

I'll see what I can come up with, let me think on that one...

They are called signatures... Most use graphics, but some text, depends on the charcter count forum admins allow. Most are 255 Characters...

Could someone help me. If someone could give me some e-mail addresses to write to I'll send eveyone of them a post.

I have long ago boycotted CBS- 60 minutes used to be a cutting edge show, now it is trash. I do not watch anything for news except FOX.

Sonar5,

I like #2. Now what do I do? How can I make that my signature? Also, it would be great if we could get everyone to use it when sending emails to advertisers and to CBS.
