Just heard from a relative in Florida - said they are only allowed 5 gal. gas per car. Is this just regional (Tampa)?? How can this be ... how far are they supposed to get on 5 gallons....? Also, said airlines are all locked up and no flights avail.

Concerned about Ivan....

My mom is in Cape Coral Florida and was pretty close but got lucky being just a bit southwest of Charley....

I am more worried but they have a place to go, and are worried about their boat on the canal..

I feel sorry for anyone in the path of this storm...

Prayers for all...

Saw Jeb Bush call this a total rumor and untrue earlier today. I do not think it has changed any, but he insisted there was NO Gas Rationing.

Yeah, my brother lucked out with the last two, as they were east of Tampa, so they tied the boat up and hung around, not about to leave unless they had a Cat. 4-5. This one they are worried about -- and my brother (Nam vet, Navy/helicopter crew) now in the Coast Guard-Aux NEVER gets worried....

[Anyone know where people can get a full tank of gas around Tampa???]

I live in New Port Richey, about 20 miles to the nw of Tampa. This afternoon there were lines at the gas stations but I was able to get gas and was not limited to how much.

Plywood is in short supply and lines around the building but I was able to get some with a little work. Grocery stores are packed. Traffic sucks. Everyone is grochy and stressed. Otherwise all is well.

Well - I'm sorry you've got this thing on the horizon....Please be safe!
I wonder if my brother was just teasing me about the 5 gal. limit.... hmmm-mm - wouldn't be the first time!! After I heard from you I told him to get on his bike right now and by Sunday night he ought to be in Georgia, at least....

I'm hoping, hoping that Ivan falls apart before he gets into the Gulf...

....Guess he wasn't kidding -- in Tampa, they have been told there is a 5 gal. limit (regardless of what Jeb says -- it is a fact, not a rumor). They said the roads are gridlocked so they can't go somewhere else to get gas, and would run out of gas on the way. ANYWAY - the plan is to get away from the beach and hunker down, if necessary.

Thinking of all of you out there in Florida!!

Folks, as a pilot, I try to get better images of weather, since the average consumer doesn't get current images...

Here are a few links to the latest updated images for Ivan...

Most of the above are updated every Fifteen Minutes and time is in UTC, so you have to adjust if you are trying to figure out what time is in your zone...

Anyone can use these links, so feel free to pass them on.

Latest forecast show Ivan moving further west than originally forecast. That is good news for all of us on the west coast of Florida. My guess is it will miss us in Naples by 150 miles and will pass offshore of your location by 75 to 100 miles. It is now expecte to to make landfall around Tallahasse.

I'm hoping it goes even further west out into the gulf and then falls apart without hitting anyone. As much as I dont want it, I don't want to wish it on anyone else either.

How true! We pray it will not hit us, then we need to offer another prayer for those who will be hit.
