How could Kerry possibly believe he could win with such a screwed up campaign! Among other things he touts his war record, but then says "don't look at my records." Did he think the defunct MSM would protect him? Did he believe the "Anyone but Bush" crowd that he would be a shoe-in?
The man has zero charisma and doesn't inspire anyone to jump on his bandwagon. He's slinging the same tired mud every other left wing goofball has and none of them has learned IT DOESN'T WORK!
Ressurecting Bush's NG service (again) is just insane and smacks of desperation.
Maybe he needs whatever drugs Gore appears to be on!

> Is Kerry Trying to Lose?
Given how he handled the crank call he placed to the
NYT to complain about the PRK nuke situation, one
really has to wonder.
He was clearly totally unprepared for the reporter to
ask an obvious question. The reporter, doubtless picked
as a "friendly", probably thought he was tossing Kerry
a softball. If Kerry can't even catch a softball, tossed
underhand, well, you can take the metaphor from there ...

Ever since the CBS forgery was debunked by the net
within hours of airtime, Gore has been kicking himself
for inventing the internet. |

Hehe yeah. It makes you wonder if this is all one big government conspiracy to ensure Bush is re-elected. |

Or a Democratic plan to run their selected candidate (Hillary Clinton?) in 08, when there's not a Republican up for re-election maybe? I've thought this for quite some time. Do you see the Clintons or Teddy Kennedy out there much trying to help this guy (even before Clinton's heart problms)? How about all the self-inflicted damage? They can't really be so stupid as to think Kerry can win, can they? |

If he is trying to lose, he may have found an issue that I can finally fully agree with this position |

The Clinton Sabotage Theory (retain Clinton control
of DNC, avoid a Democrat incumbent in 2008) explains
what the Clinton "advisors" might have been up to in
the Kerry camp, but doesn't really explain why Kerry
himself is being so self-destructive.

At this point, I think all the chefs really are trying to
save as much of cake as they can, with no expectation
of winning first prize. They are probably just trying to
avoid a landslide, and a coattail effect that would cause
even more losses in Congress, Senate, governorships,
state and local elections.
Has Kerry grasped the truth (about either the polls
or the Clintons)? Can he handle the truth?
What we saw this weekend on the PRK/nuke is, alas,
still merely consistent with Kerry's arrogance, his
apparent conviction that he can master any
situation with no qualifications, no preparation,
no contingency plans, relying on nuance (BS) to
bamboozle anyone who fails to be dazzled by his
dizzying intellect. |

Do you have a link to a story about that stuff? I missed it. _________________ US Army Security Agency

Everyone,
I think that Kerry actually thinks this is a winning strategy. However, I think I understand the Clintonista's stategery (misspelling deliberate) perfectly...and it is brilliant.
The Clinton camp wants Kerry to lose, but don't want to take the blame for it. Thus they come in and help out....and demur (for the record) before Kerry does something really stupid....and then back down.
Why? Because I believe that the Clintonistas have figured out that the best way to make sure Kerry loses is to allow Kerry to be Kerry. It also absolves them of responsibility. _________________ -Polaris

The reference in my post was a link, but here
it is more plainly:
Weekly Standard: Kerry's North Korea Non-policy
The remark about Gore was a joke, in case
that wasn't obvious.

Particularly since Kerry is also a reservist, who likely
enlisted in the deepwater USNR to avoid combat
(the PCF transfer and mission-change surprise
notwithstanding), and Kerry managed to game the
Reserve system and avoid two years worth of drills.
Either Kerry doesn't think he'll be called on this
kind of stuff, or he actually forgets the real facts
of his own history and statements. |

Y'a know, I've wondered about this myself. He sure seems to be sabataging himself regularly. And I don't mean just the obvious stuff.
I think he's scared and doesn't know what to do next. _________________ MJB

> I think he's scared and doesn't know what to do next.
My impression is that it's more a matter of control.
He does not know how to deal with situations
where matters are:
a. not going to plan, and
b. out of his control
Looking back at the PCF experience, I sense that it
was a mistake for Kerry to request that transfer.
This is all hypothetical ...
- He didn't even know about PCFs until he
got onto the Gridley
- When he learned of them, they were doing
Market Time, open-water coastal interdiction
ops, which although not as safe as being on
the Gridley, didn't seem all that risky.
- They were also the closest thing that the USN
had to the PT Boats of the real JFK. Since
Kerry sees himself as JFK-2, the chance to
get some PT boat action on the resume was
irresistible.
- Sometime during his PCF training, he gets
word of SEALORD - very dangerous up-river,
draw-fire ops. This wasn't in the plan. A man
could get killed. Major control issue.
- Kerry is ordered to Vietnam, to a unit doing
SEALORD ops. He shows up 17 days late.
I have yet to see why. Could have an innocent
explanation.
- He complains constantly about the mission.
It was not what he planned for. He is an
erratic commander. He writes inflated reports.
Who knows what he's writing in the journal.
Trying to get back in control of the situation.
- He meets Rassman, a Special Forces guy
who, incongruously, is pulling Decorations and
Awards duties. Kerry learns the ropes of the
medals game. Bingo. Back in control, and
faster than you can say "Combat V", he's
outta there.

Oh, no argument there - control is definitely an issue, I think. But I also think fear is in there. I mean, does he really have ANY idea what he or his administration would do when facing the threat of terrorism???
I think not. _________________ MJB

When he proposes to turn control of our armed forces to the anti-American UN then I'm convinced he has no backbone and no clue.
Just think folks, we'll have to go through this, and more, again with Hillary in 4 years.
