I have a question regarding Kerry's DD214 and his list of awards. Below is a link to the awards section of his DD214. It show awards and they are in no particular order at all that I can see.
I dug mine out and it list them from highest to lowest order of importance. Is there a specific order in which that they are supposed to be listed? My assumption was that they would be listed the same way they are worn.
Thanks for any assistance with an answer.

This is a comment, not an answer -- sorry.
The DD214 is completely hosed. Either someone didn't have the first clue as to how a DD214 was to look, or it has been monkied with by someone without a clue. I like to think the first, but who knows?

He also has Block 27 (Wounds recieved as a result of action with enemy forces) filled in with N/A. Yet the 3 PH's are listed at the bottom. How can this be? _________________ Phil Toth

I emailed a friend that was in records section at CBPO. Both mine and my husband's list ours in precedence order.
And with a couple more unit awards and the Korean service medal awarded since we both retired, I'm still waiting on AFMPC to send back the forms to update our DD214s.
Must have been nice to "fake it" _________________ Sandy |

I do not recall any requirement to list medals and awards in any particular order. Mine are not in seniority order. I signed (I am an ex YNC, retired LDO LCDR) hundreds of 214s as a personnel officer, ship's secretary, etc. To me the important thing was to insure the form was accurate. |

I have two DD214's from two different enlistments. Both are accompanied by DD215's. Accuracy is only a factor in certain units or there wouldn't be a need for DD 215's other than awards granted after ETS. I got my NDSM 20 years after my original ETS, because it wasn't authorized until after my ETS. _________________ "FLUSH THE JOHNS"
